Luke 2:1-20

“Christ”1
The Anointed of God
“mas”1
Latin missa "dismissal," fem. past participle of mittere "to let go, send" (see mission).

I. Where was Christ born?

Luke 2:4 KJV
4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

II. When was Christ born?

Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist, was a priest in the family of Abijah.
Luke 1:5 KJV
5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
The family of Abijah was to serve in the eighth (8) course, which was the month in the Jewish calendar which was mid-October.
1 Chronicles 24:10 KJV
10 The seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,
Zacharias completed his normal service and returned home near the end of October.
Luke 1:23 KJV
23 And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.
The heavenly proclamation.
The angel appeared to Zacharias as he was serving his course and told him his wife was going to bear a son.
Luke 1:13 KJV
13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
The beginning of the sixth month would have been close to the end of March when Mary was informed she was to bear Jesus.
Luke 1:36 KJV
36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.
The human pregnancy.
The normal 270 days of pregnancy brings the birth of Jesus from March 31 to December 25.

III. Why was Christ Born?

Matthew 1:21 KJV
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

“through his blood”
