KNOWING THE C.H.R.I.S.T OF CHRISTMAS

DO YOU KNOW JESUS CHRIST?

"Knowing the C.H.R.I.S.T. of CHRISTmas"

ISAIAH 9:6

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:

And the government shall be upon his shoulder:

And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God,

The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Who is this CHILD in a manger, born in Bethlehem that children sing about every year about this time? Why is “Joy to the World” a Christmas song? What about Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, and Santa Claus Is Coming to Town?  Which story is FACT and which is a fairy tale? Do you know why Christians celebrate Christmas? Although we have no exact date or record of when exactly Jesus was born in Bethlehem, we celebrate the birth of a Savior, who is CHRIST the Lord” Luke 2:10-11

Have you ever been in need of counsel, advice, or direction? Yes, we all have needed these things at one time or another. So, let me ask you this……what direction are you going in LIFE? Who do you have to ask for COUNSEL, when you need help, or direction?

What do you do when you don’t know what to do? You seek counsel!

Who is Jesus C.H.R.I.S.T.?

Looking at the C in Christ, we see that He was the Child in the manger, and the Wonderful

C.ounsellor. One speaks of His humanity, the other of His Deity. Jesus is the Wisdom of God, and He is the one of Supreme Counsel.

The H in CHRIST, shows us that He was, and is the ……

H.oly One of Israel.

I am the Lord, your Holy One, The creator of Israel, your King. Isaiah 43:15

Who do you know that is Holy? Who is righteous? Who is right and who is wrong? What is the standard for us to live by, or should I say, who is the standard?

Who makes the rules? It is Jesus Christ, the C.ounselor, the H.oly One of Israel.

Why is this so important? It is because He is also the……

R.edeemer, and the Revelation of God.  Ask anyone the question, “ who is God”, and you might get 100 different answers.  But, you see, there is ONLY ONE.  GOD has chosen to reveal Himself to us in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Heb 1:1-3

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

He is also called the Word of God, in John 1:1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Jesus Christ, is our Redeemer, “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." Titus 2:14

Redemption means to “buy back”, to purchase. Man lost His dominion and His freedom on earth to the devil, (Adam and Eve, Gen 3), and it was Jesus Christ who gave us back our freedom.

I.mmanuel, “God with us”, came to save us from sin and its death penalty.  Matt 1:23

That is why He is called the…

S.avior. Luke 2:1-14

He saved us from the bondage of sin, its penalty and its power.

Rom 6:23

23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord

Finally , He is.....

T. rustworthy.

I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: So shall I be saved from mine enemies. 5 When the waves of death compassed me, The floods of ungodly men made me afraid; 6 The sorrows of hell compassed me about; The snares of death prevented me; 7 In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried to my God: And he did hear my voice out of his temple, And my cry did enter into his ears.

2 Samuel 22:4

When you look at the letter T in CHRIST, NOT ONLY DOES TRUSTWORTHY COME TO MIND, BUT IT LEADS US TO HIS MANY OTHER TITLES IN THE SCRIPTURE…

THE KING OF KINGS,

THE LORD OF LORDS

THE PRINCE OF PEACE

THE WAY

THE TRUTH

THE LIFE,

THE LION OF JUDAH,

THE LAMB OF GOD

THE ONLY BEGOTTEN SON

THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD

THE ROOT AND OFFSPRING OF DAVID

THE LIVING WATER

THE BREAD FROM HEAVEN…

So, in closing, DO YOU KNOW THE C.H.R.I.S.T. OF CHRISTMAS?

IF YOU DO KNOW HIM AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR AND LORD, THEN TELL SOMEONE TODAY! IF YOU DO NOT KNOW JESUS CHRIST,

The COUNSELOR, THE HOLY ONE, THE REDEEMER AND IMMANUEL, and THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, WHO CAME TO SAVE YOU FROM SIN AND DEATH, AND AN ETERNITY IN THE LAKE OF FIRE, THEN LISTEN TO ME NOW.

He loves you, and He wants to save you, to Redeem you, to be with you everyday for all eternity. He is T.RUSTWORTHY,H AND HE IS THE WAY TO HEAVEN. He will Save you now! Won’t you trust Him now?

Pray something like this: Lord Jesus, I know you gave your life on the cross for me, to save me. I ask you to forgive my sin, and I do now repent and turn away from my sin, and I TRUST you and you alone to save me. Lord save me now. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
