Luke 2:11 NKJV
11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:11 RVR60
11 que os ha nacido hoy, en la ciudad de David, un Salvador, que es CRISTO el Señor.
This baby, born in the world was Emmanuel.
I hope this season, you have taken the time to consider what we are celebrating.
Our entire dates are surrounding Him. Before Jesus, is “BC” or before Christ. After Jesus is “AD” which is for Anno Domini. Ancient latin for “In the Year of Our Lord”.
So why is this day (which we celebrate on December 25th) so important?
When Jesus died 33 years after his birth, something amazing happened.
For generations, there was the promise of restoration between God and Man - ever since the garden.
Man could not walk with God. Sin had separated people from the presence and fellowship of God.
Check out what happened in the temple when Jesus died.
Matthew 27:51 NKJV
51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,
Matthew 27:51 RVR60
51 Y he aquí, el velo del templo se rasgó en dos, de arriba abajo; y la tierra tembló, y las rocas se partieron;
The veil that separated the people from the place God’s glory was, tore completely. Now, through Jesus, we have direct access to God.
You don’t need a priest, you have access to God the Father through Jesus.
This is why Jesus said in John 14:6
John 14:6 NKJV
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6 RVR60
6 Jesús le dijo: Yo soy el camino, y la verdad, y la vida; nadie viene al Padre, sino por mí.
The reason we celebrate Jesus, is because He is truly “God with us”.
He made a way for us to be reunited with the heart of God.
If you feel distant from him this season, know that He is here. He wants to show you life that is abundant. He loves you.
Jesus is not like Santa or the Easter bunny. Jesus is real, He is more than a story, and He wants to redeem you back to God.
Will you pray with me:
Thank you for coming to earth and living among us
Thank you for redeeming us back to God
If we feel far away, would you speak to us right now.
We ask that you would forgive our sin and that You would be the Lord of our life.
Thank you that we get to celebrate Your birth and be a light in the world around us.
Help us to let our light shine for the world to see. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
