1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
2 In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
Tiger was asked if he had accepted Jesus as personal Savior.
Tiger said: “My father was a Christian—of course Christianity was part of my life. But my mother is Asian, and Buddhism was also part of my childhood. So I practice both faiths respectfully.”
That might sound nice to some, but according to the Bible, there is only One Way!
1. Jesus is the way to Forgiveness
1. Jesus is the way to Forgiveness
Act 4:12 “12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.””
I am sayings carry strong overtones of being claims to divinity and the promised savior
He identifies Himself as The Bread of Life
Jn 6:35 “35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”
Jn 6:48 “48 I am the bread of life.”
Jn 6:51 “51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.””
The Light of the World
Jn 8:12 “12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””
Jn 9:5 “5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.””
The Gate for the sheep
Jn 10:7 “7 Therefore Jesus said again, “I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.”
The Good Shepherd
Jn 10:11 “11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
Jn 10:14 “14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—”
The Resurrection and The life (11:25), the way and the truth and the life (14:6), and the true vine (15:1).
Acts 13:38 “38 “Therefore, my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.”
2. Jesus is the way to Peace
2. Jesus is the way to Peace
We have peace with God through Jesus
Romans 5:1–5 “1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.”
Apart from Jesus there is no peace
His peace surpasses understanding
3. Jesus is the way to Eternal Life
3. Jesus is the way to Eternal Life
The Resurrection and the Life
Jn 11:25 “25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;”
Jesus give eternal life
Jn 10:27-28 “27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.”
The Way and the Life
Jn 14:6 “6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Once saved you must walk in the light
1 John 1:7 “7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”
Work out your Salvation
Phil 2:12 “12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,”
Work out emphasizes that obedience is intentional and purposeful. Paul’s point is that Salvation, once received, must be put into practice through obedience
Fear and trembling refer to reverence and awe before God
Be careful how you live
4. Jesus is the way to The Father
4. Jesus is the way to The Father
One way road to the Father—Jesus
Eph 2:18 “18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”
There is no access but through Jesus
There is no other way to get to the Father
Be obedient to the Teaching of Christ
2 Jn 1:9 “9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.”
Our confessions
1 Jn 2:23 “23 No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.”
Jesus is the Greatest Gift
Eph 2:8-9 “8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.”
