The birth of Christ fulfilled at least 15 OT prophecies.
700 years before the event, Isaiah foretold of Jesus birth.
He was born in the exact family, in the exact place, and under the exact circumstances given in OT scripture.
But we also see He was not to be accepted, because He was not who the Jews were looking for.
He was not an earthly king or ruler, but instead He came to rule over His creation.
Not only to rule over His creation but to also give a way for the relationship between us and the Father to be restored - giving us the opportunity to accept Him and as John says we are then given the “right to become children of God”.
The Word became flesh.
Word - logos, a communication that is most often spoken, but can come through other means.
A brief statement.
The Divine Expression, the Word of God (Christ).
Divine communication directly from God to mankind.
became flesh - we find that the first time we see a picture of Jesus, He was with God (the Father).
dwelt among us - to take up residence or dwell in or as if in a tent - indicating temporariness.
While He dwelled with us, it was only for a short period of time, but with a specific purpose.
we have seen His glory - He presented Himself as God, incarnate (embodied in flesh, human form) so that we could see His glory - splendor, might, greatness.
glory as of the only Son from the Father - Jesus had a greatness about Him that could not and will never be equaled.
He IS Divine in nature, and in essence THE Son of God, manifest in these scriptures as Messiah - one specifically chosen to reveal to us the will of the invisible God.
full of grace - complete to the fullest extent with grace/charity - goodwill freely given by God to the benefit of us, regardless of whether we deserve it.
and truth - that which is in accord with what really happens, facts that correspond to a reality, whether historical, or an eternal reality not limited to historical fact.
We know, in fact, that our Savior, the Word, Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, in Bethlehem.
He lived a sinless, perfect life as an example for each and every one of us.
He died on the cross and was resurrected three days later so that we can understand and know the truth of the grace extended to each of us.
By knowing Him, we know the Father, and can be adopted into the family - becoming children of God through the sacrifice of Jesus.
IF we believe.
