I. Are We to Feed the Poor Even When They are Not Working?

A. God Feed the Israelites Forty Years in the Wilderness on the Journey to Canaan Even Those That Were not Working
Ex 16:35 “35 And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.”
B. The Manna Fell With Dew Every Night
Nu 11:9 “9 And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.”
C. God Feed Elijah by a Raven Giving Him Food
I Ki 17:4 “4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.”
D. Jesus Had Compassion on the Multitude and Feed Four Thousand Men, Women, and Children Even Most Were Not Working
Matt 14:18-21 “18 He said, Bring them hither to me. 19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. 20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. 21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.”
E. Jesus Had Compassion on the Multitude and Feed Four Thousand Men, Women, and Children Even Most Were Not Working
Matt 15:32-38 “32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way. 33 And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude? 34 And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes. 35 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. 36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. 37 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full. 38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.”
F. Jesus Told the Rich Man to Sell His Possessions and give to the Poor
and Follow Him
G. Maybe the Rich Man Did Not Want to Do It, Because He May Have Thought That Some the Poor Were Not Working. And He Did Not Want to Give to Someone Who Was Not Working
Lu 18:20-22 “20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. 21 And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. 22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.”
H. Jesus is the King Said That He Was Hungry and You Give Me No Meat.
I. He Also Said that He Was a Stranger and You Did Help Me
J. He Was Referring to Anyone Who is in Need
Mt 25:40-44 “40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?”
K. He Said That Your Punishment for Not Doing it Was to Go to Everlasting Punishment
Mt 25:45-46 “45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”
L. But If You Do as a Righteous Person, You Will Enter Into Life Eternal With Him
II. If You Do Not Work, Neither Should You Eat
2 Th 3:8-10 “8 Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: 9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. 10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.”
