Introduction

God came down
God came to renew a broken world and save sinners just like each of us. He came to fulfill the new covenant and be the bridge between God and ourselves.
In a time in my life when I sought so many wordly things for fulfillment and hope, God came into my life and provided me hope and salvation.
God came down for each of us to have true hope and fulfillment that would last forever through his salvation.

Body

Today we are going to be jumping around in Romans. This is viewed as Paul’s most theologically sound and put together book. In other words the apostle Paul wrote this letter to explain to a nation of people who did not know God exactly who he is and what he did for us.
The verses we will be going over today form what we know as the Roman’s road to salvation and were crucial for me to understand God and his sacrifice for all of humanity.
Today maybe you are like I was and are desperately seeking hope and fulfillment from the world around you, but today take heart and see that God came down for you.
Romans 3:23 CSB
23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;
Every person you know from your parents to the sweet old lady that we all know has sinned and fallen away from the Lord. This is the backstory of humanity. We have messed up a world that was meant to be lived in perfect unity with God.
I messed up by chasing after things that didn’t matter in the long run. Popularity and things, and sacrificed the glory of God to give glory to these irrelevant things.
Romans 6:23 CSB
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Because of our sin each of us deserved death. We deserved even worse than physical death we deserved eternal death. We rebelled against the person who loved us more than anyone and ran towards the selfish love of this world.
Romans 5:8 CSB
8 But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
We lived as a cheating wife who chose a cheating man instead of our loving husband, but even in the midst of that God died for us so that we may glorify him.
God came down
Romans 10:9–10 CSB
9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
God came down for you. This is what sets Christianity apart from every world religion. Where they say you have to earn God’s love, but we understand that there is NOTHING we can do to earn God’s love. God graciously sent his son into the world to live a perfect life and die and all you have to do is put your faith into him.
God came down

Conclusion

Today I want to give you that opportunity. The true reason for this Christmas season is celebrating that fact.
That God came down.
Bow your heads.
