Good morning and welcome to CCC.
What a joy and honor to be able to gather together to worship Jesus on His birthday!!!!!
This morning we are breaking away from our sermon series We Are The Church to look at the Arrival of Jesus
I thought and prayed long and hard about this message today.
So many directions that one could go this morning.
I felt God leading me in the direction we are headed this morning.
As soon as sin entered the world, actually even before, God had a redemptive plan.
The arrival of Jesus put that plan into motion.
Our key or main verse this morning was uttered 700 years before Jesus…the plan was there waiting on the right moment....the right time…God’s perfect time 2022 years ago was that right time
I love Christmas
I Love Jesus
I love celebrating Jesus birthday every year
I love nativity scenes
I love worship songs about Jesus’ birth
i Love Christmas eve communion that we enjoyed together last night
But Christmas....the arrival of Jesus is about so much more than all of that....
God with us
Savior
Redeemer
Deliverer
Let’s Pray
START OBS
This morning I want to look to Isaiah prophesying 700 years before Jesus of just how Jesus’ arrival would talk place and what impact it would have on the world
Isaiah 9:6

6  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:And the government shall be upon his shoulder:And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God,The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
I feel lead to explore some concepts that I draw from this verse and Jesus coming to the earth 2022 years ago today
First
Jesus was fully human

For unto us a child is born…unto us a son is given
Luke 1:26-35

26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David.
And the virgin’s name was Mary.
28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” 29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be.
30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.
32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.
And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”34
And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”35
And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God
Vs 31 you will conceive in your womb, and bear a son....Physical fleshly baby
Jesus was real
Jesus was flesh and bone
Luke 2:1-7

“In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.
This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria.
And all went to be registered, each to his own town.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.
And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth.
And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.”
the time came for her to give birth and she gave birth to her first born and wrapped him in swaddling cloths
She gave birth and treated Jesus just like they treated any child born in that day....wrapped him in swaddling cloths.
Physical birth
natural birth
Baby boy born to Mary in a barn
Why is that important?
Why make a point of Jesus being fully human?
Because the enemy has many believing, maybe even you, that no one knows what you are going through
No one can understand you and your struggles
No one can relate to you
The feelings you have are yours alone, no one else has or will have them
You may feel alone and doomed
That is all false.
Scripture destroys that lie in many ways
I want to look at two here this morning
1st Jesus was fully human…we have seen that in scripture this morning.
On the cross He took…bore our sins
Hebrews 9:28
________________________
“so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.”
I Peter 2:24
________________________
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.
By his wounds you have been healed.”
offered once to bear the sins of many and He himself bore our sins
What does that mean?
It means Jesus knows.
He bore your sin…actually the Bible goes further
II Corinthians 5:21
________________________
“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
Jesus not only bore your and my sin He became our sin.
Jesus knows our sin better than we know it
He felt all that we feel and more
He relates to you
He understands you
He knows your feelings and thoughts
He became your sin
Fully human
If he was only human however the story would end right with His death
The rest of this morning I want to look a the names that Isaiah uses in prophesying that Jesus would come to earth
Wonderful
________________________
This comes from a Hebrew word that means miracle, marvellous thing
Jesus was fully human but also fully God.
Supernatural
God is clear in His Word about Jesus and the fact that through God’s redemptive plan Jesus would come to earth and save His people
Isaiah 7:14
________________________
“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign.
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
Luke 2:11
________________________
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
Jesus is called Wonderful because He is the way where there was no way
You and I and all of mankind were doomed to hell because we are all born sinners with sinful natures
We could never pay our own price
We could never atone for our own sin
