I. To reveal God to humanity ).
a) Why?
Because God the son has always existed together with God the Father and knows Him fully.
John 1:1-3,14, 18
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. No one has ever seen God. The one and only Son, who is himself God and is at the Father’s side—he has revealed him.
John 8:56-58
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day; he saw it and was glad.” The Jews replied, “You aren’t fifty years old yet, and you’ve seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, before Abraham was, I am.”
II. To be a merciful high priest for us (Heb. 4:14–16).
a) Who was the high priest?
A mediator between God and men.
b) What did the high priest do?
represent the people in front of God by interceding for their forgiveness
represent God before people by teaching them the Law of God.
c) What do we get if Jesus is our high priest?
Hebrews 2:17-18 Therefore, he had to be like his brothers and sisters in every way, so that he could become a merciful and faithful high priest in matters pertaining to God, to make atonement, for the sins of the people. For since he himself has suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.

3. a compassionate mediator willing to understand you
III. To offer an example of obedience to God
1 Peter 2:21 For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
Why?
a) so you may not have bad examples
b) so that you may be encouraged knowing he understand you
III. To deliver you from the works of the devil
1 John 3:8 The one who commits sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the devil’s works.
a) to deliver you from the sin in your life
b) the deliver your from demonic influence
c) to deliver you from the fear of death
Hebrews 2:14-15 Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through his death he might destroy the one holding the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who were held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death
