Genesis 3:11-15

Merry Christmas everyone! It is great that Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, no greater place to celebrate than with the family of God! Christmas actually falls on every 1st day of the week! I am stretching things a bit.....It actually falls on every day of the believer’s lives! If you are a true believer this morning, you will be thankful, worshipful, and joyous because Jesus Christ was born! He was born for the occasion of my redemption!
I listened to a preacher the other day tell that he has been asked where does the Christmas story begin? I have never thought about that question, but interestingly there is a great answer.....Genesis 3:11-15.....
After the obedience of Adam and Eve, after they performed what is said in Isaiah 53:6 “All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned every one to his own way”.......................
They went to their own way!
Man was condemned, condemned not only to die physically but a spiritual/eternal death came upon all mankind!
However, in that moment God gave us great news........Let’s read.......
Genesis 3:15 is where the Christmas began, it is where the birth of Jesus was foretold and our salvation was declared....
God spoke the devil’s demise in Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
The affliction of a fallen world will bruise our heels........
However, the Finished Work of the seed of the woman will crush the head of satan!
The last part of Isaiah 53:6 tells us that “the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Jesus destroys the only thing that satan could use against God; our sin!
At this very moment, we see the mercy and grace of God.....
Now, let’s listen to Matthew’s report of the birth of the seed of the woman.......Matthew 1:18-25......
In verse 18 we read of our hope, the birth of our Savior came in a powerful package!
Fully Man.....Mary being found with child
A virgin never knowing a man......not possible for her to be pregnant.
Fully God.....Of the Holy Ghost!
The power of God!
Fully God and Fully Man
Verse 23........Emmanuel “God With Us”
Verse 21.....His name will be Jesus for He will save His people from their sins
the Son of God and the Son of man all in one precious child!
Precious not because of his looks, but of His truth!
Spurgeon said.....BERNARD has delightfully said that the name of Jesus is honey in the mouth, melody in the ear, and joy in the heart.
May we all find Jesus to be joy in our hearts, a jubilee within our souls. Jesus is the way to God, therefore will we preach him; he is the truth, therefore will we hear of him; he is the life, therefore shall our hearts rejoice in him.
All because of Who He is and why He came!
There is no other way to express this Glory.....I wonder if you know this, I wonder if your hearts rejoice at His Truth, at His Way, at His Life!
I have tried to be more creative about my presentation of this, but the more I ponder on this, there is no need for man’s creativity, this is God we are speaking of, this is our condemnation that is revealed, this is our deliverance that has been given through our Gracious and Merciful Heavenly Father!
No need for creativity, as always God does all the work!
2 Corinthians 5:21 “For God hath made Jesus to be sin for us, Jesus Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ.”
Look with me at Dr. Luke’s account Luke 2:1-7........Jesus God the Son entered this world in lower than average means......
Yet, the declaration of the angels seemed to speak higher of this entrance of God’s Son......Verses 8-20...........
These lowly, stinky shepherds began to praise for the Messiah has come........
We talked Wed. Night about this..........The sacrifices that was made at that time was done repeatedly year after year, every year the guilt and shame reared it’s ugly head and had that sin had to be atoned for......the guilt was never extinguished!
These shepherds knew full well what Jesus came to do......He, once for all, took away our sins, washing us clean before God!
He is the true Messiah, He has fulfilled every prophecy of Himself except for one......the He is coming back the 2nd time to establish His government on earth!
Galatians 4:4-7 “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”
There are so many passages in Scripture that declares this, if we would only believe!
John 11:25-26 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
This is the Birth of The True King..............Lastly let’s turn to Ephesians 2:1-9........
Mainly, this is a Gift from God........Merry Christmas!!!
Jesus is the reason to be merry, Jesus is the reason to rejoice, Jesus is the reason to gather, Jesus is the reason for giving, Jesus is the reason to enjoy a bountiful feast, Jesus is the reason we celebrate!
In urging the Corinthians believers to give to help the church at Jerusalem, Paul uses God giving His Son for the harvest of many souls this is what He said about God’s gift .............. 2 Corinthians 9:15 “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”
