Name Above All Names

December 18, 2022

Philippians 2:5-11

• Have the same mind as Christ. Think the way He thinks.

• Cultivate an attitude of humility and obedience.

• Jesus who is God and has always been God, became a humble, human servant, obedient to God’s plan.

• God then exalted Him to the highest place of honor, and gave Jesus the name that is above all names ~ the supreme, divine name of Lord!

• That name acknowledges Christ’s absolute lordship as divine King of the universe, and it brings with it ~ the right to be worshiped.

• Lord, in verse 11 is G2962 kurios, and means supreme in authority; Master.

• For believers ~ Jesus is the Lord over our lives and we surrender to His authority.

Revelation 17:14

‘These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.’

Revelation 19:16

‘And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Acts 4:7-12

• Peter addresses the Sanhedrin that a man was healed by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

• He tells them, you crucified Him; God raised Him from the dead and by Him this man stands before you whole.

• Even though you rejected Him ~ He has become the chief cornerstone.

• There is salvation under no other name.

Ephesians 1:19-23

• God raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places.

• Verse 21 ~ ‘far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.’

• The name of Jesus is higher than any other name that can be named.

• Jesus gave us authority over all the power of the enemy ~ when we use His name.

• God channels all the power of heaven through the authority of the believer who knows the rights and privileges that belong to him and are found in the name of Jesus.

Encouragement for the week: Meditate on the name, Lord. Jesus is my Lord ~ ask God for more revelation on what that means and what it looks like in your life. Listen and He will reveal it to you.
