John 10:7–18 (ESV

7 So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13 He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”

Well!.... Here we are ---Stepping into a new year.....

What are the things that one does at the beginning of a new year?

I was reading this week about new years resultions:

Top 10 New Year's resolutions for 2022

Lose weight.Eat healthier or change diet.Get fitter and take more exercise.Spend more time with family and friends.Be more aware and take care of mental health.Sort out finances and cut back spending.Travel more.Take up a new hobby, sport or other interest.

FOR ME THOUGH SOMETIMES I CAN LOOK AHEAD TO A BRAND NEW YEAR AND IT CAN SEEM A BIT DAUNTING: MAYBE IT DOES FOR YOU.... MAYBE IT DOESNT.... BUT THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO, MUCH TO ACCOMPLISH, MUCH TO BELIEVE FOR

AND IT LEADS MY HEART TO THINK LIKE “WHAT DO I WANNA MAKE SURE I MUST HAVE

WHAT ARE THE MUST HAVE’s for a BRAND NEW YEAR

SO my MESSAGE TITLE TODAY is this:

“You’ll NEED this in 2023”.

but really… What you’ll need is who you’ll need: JESUS.

What does a life with JESUS offer me this year in 2023?

The FAITH DYNAMIC EXISTS in 2023: INVITATION… AND RESPONSE.

A DOOR WAY… AND A CHOICE

Its what we see Here in John 10:8-9 “8 All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.”

There is an invitation that awaits you in 2023. You have been issued with an invitation of FAITH. Its come to your door.

Its arrived in your mailbox.

its come to the seat you are in.

But there is a catch.

....ONLY you can choose it!

So what will it be?

So if you step into the life of faith with Jesus christ in 2023. What will that entail?

what does a life with Jesus mean for me

what Does JESUS offer to his followers?

1.Jesus offers forgiveness

(He came to make a way for us. That portal is the doorway of forgiveness).

We are no longer enemies to God.

Ps 103:1-5 “1 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, 3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, 5 who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

Look at the progression in the scriptures here:

Ps 103:3: “3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,”

Some of you will experience physical healing in 2023 because youve forgiven someone you need to forgive - and its inside of Gods forgiving nature that his HEALING is released!

Forgiveness & Healing go HAND In HAND in Gods Kingdom. Gods economy!

The enemy does not want you forgiven & forgiving!

2.Jesus offers leadership

(he is always leading the way).

PS 23:1 “1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

jesus offers leadership.

but will you give him that place of leading.

You and i are the sheep - He is the shepherd!

There are far too many christians trying to be shepherds of their own souls! YOU DONT WANT TO LEAD YOURSELF! THATS A TERRIBLE WAY TO LIVE. What happens? you go AROUND & AROUND & AROUND! and you wonder why?

SHEEP ARENT MEANT TO LEAD THEMSELVES?

The Shepherd is the only one who can do certain things!!!

Are you trying to redeem yourself?

Are you trying to restore yourself?

Are you trying to bless yourself?

THATS HIS JOB!

*story: There have been times in my faith journey where i have EDGED GOD OUT of my picture, even just for a season, even just unknowingly going about a struggle of a challenge we can sometimes forget the LORDSHIP that comes with JESUS’ LEADERSHIP: this is the part some have missed. If He is your leader, he is your LORD.

WRITE THIS DOWN: “His Leadership is also His LORDSHIP”

You cant have one without the other!

JESUS OFFERS LeaDERSHIP… BUT THAT HAS TO MEAN LORDSHIP: i have learned this much: i make a terrible Lord, but a a great servant.

I make a terrible great shepherd.. but i can make it as a sheep!

(JESUS offers forgiveness.... Jesus offers Leadership (and Lordship).

3.Jesus offers wholeness

(through discipleship).

But how?

He offers it through discipleship and the journey of coming in through HIS DOOR.

and its through HIS DOOR that comes HEALING and WHOLENESS.

He wants to make you WHOLE today… and this YEAR

But that Will only happen by an ENCOUNTER of His Grace

PRAY FOR THE GRACE of the MASTER to be UPON HIS PEOPLE TODAY

Psalm 23:2–3 ESV

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

He Makes me, He Leads me, He Restores me

He is a GOD of Restoration.

he is a GOD of HOPE.

He wants to make you WHOLE today & this year

IN JESUS NAME.

Faith declaration this year

[allow this to be a GREAT Reset for you - a cleaning of the slate!]

(lets sat it all together).

in 2023!

I will give my life to God all over again this new year. He is my shepherd.

I will serve Jesus with my whole heart in 2023. He gets ALL of me.

I will let Gods Word & Spirit lead me in every area of my life in 2023

I will choose this year the path of obedience, repentance & submission to God in everyday my walk with Him.

I will not give the enemy any ground in my life this year and will claim the spiritual territory assigned to me from God.

To God be the Glory in 2023!
