Philippians chapter 2.
Philippians 2, and I think the verses on screen start at 3, I'm going to start at 1. Just cuz I like to see that look on Becky's face.
First one said, so if there's any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from Love and he participated in the spirit Any affection.
Sympathy complete my Joy by being of the same mind.
Having the same love being in full of cord and of one mind.
Mystery do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit but in humility count others, more significant than yourselves.
That each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others.
A five says, have this wind among you yourself which is yours in Christ, Jesus.
He'll know, he was in the form of God's not count equality with God.
A thing to be grasped but he emptied himself by taking the form of a servant being born in the likeness of men being found in human form.
He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him.
The name that is above every name.
So that in the name of Jesus, every knee should bow in heaven and on Earth and under the Earth.
Every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord for the glory of God, the Father Probably.
Can we come before you this morning and we asked the Lord for your guidance and your spirit Lord to direct
Ali.
Pray, Lord that you would stir your spirit inside your beloved even now.
Father, be hard one heart.
That doesn't know you this morning.
Well, I pray Lord that they would come to the end of themselves.
On great.
Humility.
Lord, may we all come before you this morning.
All the way or so grateful.
but what you have done for each and every one of our hearts, May we live in that state of gratitude.
Write it all in your son Jesus name.
Amen.
The last Sunday night.
William we started with We'll look at wonderful counselor on for a few minutes before we sang so beautifully.
I did anyway, and I just got to thinking I was going to do this next weekend but this is one of my favorite verses.
This particular section, speaking on the Incarnation of Christ him coming down here as fully God and putting on human form.
One of those things that makes my head kind of, if it wasn't cloudy already even more cloudy.
That's hard for me to fully comprehend, especially with all the different things that he did while he was here.
But to be both things at the same time, you can use all kinds of I'm, you can try to use examples, you know, like I have different titles.
You can you get off of a pastor, father?
I'm out cold, but it just doesn't come close to anywhere near really saying, what God did, For us in Christ, when you really stop to think that he had to leave the heavenlies in the fullness of his glory and everything that he was that he did that in the Angels, didn't know when it was happening.
They didn't know that part either.
They didn't know how it was all coming down.
They didn't understand it.
Infects scripture tells us and Peter that they still don't comprehend the Grayson and what he did for us to fully comprehend it because, well, it's a lot to take in.
But the Incarnation of Christ, the Incarnation is Define this way.
I thought we could do this.
So the assuming by God, of human nature in the person of Jesus Christ, the Incarnation is the fixed and permanent physical dwelling of God in his world.
As opposed to Temporary manifestation of divine presence and power and a theophany.
All right, so I know big words that start with e in the morning.
You like, what did he just say?
So theophany is what they call when Christ is in the Old Testament and he appears in human form, it will save the angel of the Lord, that's Jesus Christ.
They call that a theophany.
So if you ever hear that word again, you can throw it out and tell him to just say Jesus Christ in the Old Testament and the New Testament, it's not at the office anymore because he leaves the heavenlies and he comes and he puts on this thing.
That's what he puts on this human form.
As soon as this is the Incarnation of Christ, this is him taking on human form to live amongst us to to live a life.
Well in a way that we could never live for ourselves.
So the idea this morning is to take these verses and and around the Incarnation of Christ and really see what it was that Christ did for us on, what is it to take on this human form?
What did he, what do you leave behind on?
What did he do?
While he was here?
And in all those things, pretty much packed into a nice little pretty bow around the Incarnation.
But what it does for you and I that makes us, I pray that we would stop for this.
Just this moment this morning.
And realize the humility of a Christ.
On our part for us.
He didn't have to leave the heavens.
He didn't have to put on.
The humanity.
He didn't have to be born in that manger and do all the things that babies do and, you know, and grow up and you didn't have to do that.
He did it for you.
Because you knew you couldn't.
Cuz he knew you couldn't be obedient.
I knew you couldn't be obedient to the father.
He knew that that you would send against the holy and righteous God, he knew that that would be who you were and that there would be darkness and you needed light.
So this miracle of the Incarnation to us is, well, it's extremely important.
Now the brush is started off with in within first one.
So if there's any encouragement this is Paul talking to church.
So if there's any encouragement Christ, any comfort from love of any participation in his Spirit, any affection, and sympathy complete my Joy by being of the same mind.
Having the same love being in full of chord of one mind.
So he starts off with this picture.
He says, if any any, any comfort and its participation affection, sympathy, all these things, we complete and we find the same mind all together under the same cross on the same.
Jesus Christ.
it's why when We Gather there is not a hierarchy There isn't, I don't have that little color thing, and I won't the Salvation that my heart desperately needed was the same that your heart desperately needed when we talked about our lives and, and, and how we're walking through our lives.
Well, I'm in the same battles that you're in, your you, maybe further down the line, you may been walking the Lord for 20 years, but you're still in the same battle, you're in the same mind, we're in the same Accord because the same Christ doesn't change, you didn't get part of it when I got the other part and then I got to help you out.
That's not it.
I got all of him.
I got everything everything I need in him and it's all that we are all on the same mind.
So he says in verse 3, do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit in humility.
Count others, more significant than yourself, Let each look to not only to his own interests, but to the interests of others.
And he says, hi this mind among yourselves.
So what are you saying is The humility that it took for the Lord to come down and to put on human flesh.
Is our example.
And then you and I have to live a life down here of one of humility of being humble.
Well, how can we not be humble?
We're Christians, right?
I mean, we're Christians.
I got to be humble or I'll tell you all about it now.
So you have to be humble if you really look at the cross, if you really look at Christ in, you really understand that he came down and that he put on flesh for you.
You didn't do it for him.
You did nothing for him, except for bringing sin and lay it before him and he pay for your ass.
And so there's nothing that we bring.
And so, when we think about the humility that it took for him to put on human flesh, in the come down here in the be amongst us since you not be.
Well, we'll talk about what he emptied himself up in just a minute.
