Acts chapter 10.
Starting in nine likes, they going to 23.
Don't know about you but I I love this time of year.
I like it when it gets colder.
That way when turn all the fan is all in the house.
That's another story.
Well, I like it when it's cold but I like I just like the Thanksgiving season in the Christmas season.
The time we get to spend together most time I like that part, but what I really like is the Traditions like you have you have you probably have tradition certain things.
Feel like they're certain things that we do the Sunday.
More on that Sunday morning on Christmas morning.
This year will be Sunday morning, Christmas morning at our house.
We have way too much food.
We have enough to last at least three days for some reason.
It's just the five of us, but I'm in Ben's I needed.
So but we have biscuits and ham and pigs in a blanket and chocolate gravy is what we eat.
And if we eat pigs in a blanket in any other time during the year it feels like you're cheating on someone like it's just feels really awkward.
We do the cup about a week ago and we don't eat it.
The rest of the year.
In fact, every time we do it on Christmas when he says why do we do this like like other time?
Like I don't know.
This is the only.
This is like the time that were allowed to do it.
I don't know why but just kind of develop that way over time I'm for a long time it was a certain kind of ham that I had to have because that was a ham that I had growing up and slowly I changed over time is that ham got higher in price I changed.
It was difficult though because well it hurt my feelings but I changed but it was just tradition.
It wasn't like it's a rule.
Like you can't have a great Christmas without ham and a biscuit.
And I mean although from the South, if that may be a rule for you also but I don't know.
I was just, I was just what developed over time.
The passage that we're going to be in today is is one in which well it's it's more than just tradition.
Honestly, weight.
It is tradition but it also goes Way Beyond.
It was a command of God that separated God's people in a different way.
And the Lord told them, I'm certain dietary restrictions and things that were in their life again to separate them out to to show that they were a holy people, separated out on the god, that they are there different.
And then text me come to you today that all just kind of gets flipped upside down and just a moment's notice.
And you know how good we are with change.
I mean, everybody in this room, you know, you don't not that if you moved one thing in this building, someone would notice that's never happened.
That's not the way we normally do it.
So every one of us can relate to the conversation that's going to be had in this scripture this morning, everyone of us in some form or fashion but ultimately, we need to realize that what we've been building up to an acts as we are all the way to 10 now, and we'll get through it, at least by the end of the year and Well, on our way to 28 well on her way.
Is the fact that the Lord has opened up salvation, for all who will believe, he's making it clear.
But the Peter, it's not clear in the moment because he's just a person trying to figure things out which should make you feel really good that you know Peter didn't walk on water and didn't the absolutely just know everything immediately and instantly that he had to actually walk this Christian Life and had to go through trials and tribulations.
And he had to grow as a person under God as God, transform them into the man that he wanted them to be.
Which to me was a very exciting thing cuz I'm help up.
If Peter can do it, I have home.
He had a really big mouth and a really big foot and Through Time God change some of those two aspects of him, I'm sure he still had a big mouth and a Bigfoot, but it seemed to shrink over time.
So what I'm saying is, don't throw Peter away today, don't go.
Well, I don't have to do any of those things, but really listen to what he goes through in these verses listen to text in verse 9.
The next day as they were on their journey and approaching the city.
Peter went up to the Housetop Up on the Housetop about the 6th hour to pray, he became hungry and wanting something to eat.
While they were preparing and he fell into a trance and saw the heavens opened and something like a great sheet descending being let down by its Four Corners upon the Earth.
And in it, we're all kinds of animals and reptiles and birds of the air, there came a voice to him, rise, Peter, kill and eat.
But Peter said by no means Lord, for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.
The boys came to him a second time but God has made clean.
Do not call common.
This happened three times Anything was taken up at once to heaven.
Now while Peter was in really perplexed as to what the vision that he had seen might mean, behold the man who were sent by Cornelius, I'm having made inquiry of Simon's house, stood at the gate, and called out to ask.
Whether Simon it was called, Peter was lodging there.
While Peter was pondering the vision, the spirit said to him, behold, three, Manor, looking for you rise, go down in the company them without hesitation, or I've sent them.
And Peter went down to the man and said, I'm the one.
I'm the one you are looking for.
What is the reason for you coming?
And they said Cornelius Century on an upright and God-fearing man who is well spoken of by, the whole Jewish nation was directed by Holy Angel to send for you, to come to his house and I hear what you have to say.
So we invited them in to be his guests, the next day, he arose and went away with them and some of the brothers from Joppa accompany him.
So, we have this, this is kind of the continuation of the store that we had last week.
So Cornelius is been given this Vision.
He's been directed by.
God, He Is, We Looked at last week he obeyed and did, as he was told he sent people to, to go get a person that he had never met or seems to have never heard of in a place that he has never been nor heard of.
But just out of obedience to what God has directed him to he follows through and obedience.
We're going to look at today is Peter's Peter side of the vision, correcting his vision, and then walk kind of how the story unfolds until next week, when we get them both together in the same room, okay?
Sorry.
The bumper ball was like, you know, climax next week.
We'll start with not the way I see it.
Okay?
Not the way I see it.
So and verse 9, we have him as they were on the journey approaching the City PA.
What up to the Housetop about the 6th hour to pray.
So Peter goes up to the Housetop.
You would usually gone outside the building.
And there have been a way to get up to the top of the roof.
About noon, is when he goes up, and he goes up there to pray and he became hungry, wanting something to eat.
While they're preparing it, he fell into a trance and saw the heavens opened up something like a great sheet to tending.
I so let's start.
Would that do to begin with he's hungry?
I know we never get that way.
So but he's hungry around the noon time.
This is actually not normally.
When they would eat there was actually a little earlier or a little later than this.
I'm so excited.
Like maybe he's missed a meal or something cuz it's getting kind of hungry.
You should see the commentary is because he's looking out upon the sea.
The things that he think the Lord gives him a vision, okay?
And the Lord to do, whatever he wants to do it, it doesn't have to be any particular place or any particular location.
It just happens to be.
This is where he is, but he's on the rooftop, he's hungry, he seeking the Lord in prayer and Wild.
In the Lord in prayer, they're making him something to eat.
He falls into a trance.
The scripture says, and saw the heavens opened up and something like a great sheet descending being let down by Four Corners upon the Earth.
And it will all kinds of animals, and reptiles and birds of the air.
And there came a voice to him rise, Peter, kill and eat.
Peter says by no means Lord.
For I've never eaten anything that is common or unclean.
