Christmas was marvelous to spend time with family and friends,
but most importantly to be gathered around Jesus.
Words cannot express the gratitude you all.
Our scripture comes to us on the heels of the Lord Jesus’ ministry on the earth. For 3 years he healed the sick, raised the dead, and The Gospel was preached all Throught Judea and all the world was changed forever.
I have often wondered how the Garden of Gethsenmane looked.
to see the place where The lord spent his last night before his capture.
and How many times he would go there to spend time and pray.
John 17:1–3 (NKJV)
1 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, 2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
THE HOUR HAS COME
Jesus Knew his Hour has come. and he asked to be glorified so that he can glorify God. Even in the face of the cross and destruction, we can see our saviour set his face like a flint to the cross.
6 I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting. 7 “For the Lord God will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced; Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed.
Anyone ever start a fire with a flint before?
I didnt think so, well you take a flint rock and put some thin charcoal or very light tinder on the flint rock and then you take a Steel striker and you hit the face of the flint rock and sparks fly onto the the charcoal.
Beloved our Jesus. The one they call wonderfull set his face to that Hill they call The Skull, where the Steel of Judgement was struck down upon his face.
..........
This what that means, That he willingly gave himself to be stricken.
Even though I have heard of his death before, how he died for me, somehow it always as if I am hearing it for the first time.
51 Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, 52 and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. 53 But they did not receive Him, because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem.
Jesus was left at the temple in Jerusalem and he was teaching in the Temple, His face has always been set for the journey to Jerusalem. He must be about his Fathers business, to seek and to save what was lost.
When he was young he knew his hour was not come. And he grew in stature and wisdom. but one day he knew his hour would come.
and One day fulfill the prophecy and save mankind .
Job could say his hour had come, he lost it all. In the heat of it all, where he needed Deliverence the most, he knew that he could not reach Gods level. He thought if only there was someone who could be a mediator between him and God.
32 “For He is not a man, as I am, That I may answer Him, And that we should go to court together. 33 Nor is there any mediator between us, Who may lay his hand on us both. 34 Let Him take His rod away from me, And do not let dread of Him terrify me. 35 Then I would speak and not fear Him, But it is not so with me.
He realized that God was way above man, and that He is GOD and sovereign. But he did not understand why this was happening to him. His position was that what has happened to him was not right, and that what was happening to him was not his doing.
Job realized that he did not have the authority to remedy his situation. He did not have the position or the ability, that his circumstances are out of his control.
Is there anyone in here that feels this? .....
Have you ever been in a situation that was out of your control, and ooo if there was someone who could pull me from the wreckage? to pull me out of addiction, pull me out of my own selfishness......
2. AUTHORITY GIVEN
John 17:1–3 (NKJV)
1 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, 2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
There is one Beloved....
He bares the mark of the risen christ, even now he is on Gods right hand interceding for you and I.
THere is one that can take you sins, you guilt, your shame, your wreck and make all things new.
But Jesus did not only go to the cross to take the sin of the world on himself, but to justify those who would receive him through Faith. You and I needed a saviour who can remove our sins but impart his righteousness to us.
21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
We needed someone with the authority to give us everlasting Life, and He has been given authority to give us Eternal Life.
And He rose from the Grave Glorified of his Father, for the demands were satisfied, and Death could not hold him captive and neither would he see corruption.
10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
On a cold January night, Brock Meister was driving behind his best friend Ryan Topper. Meister’s car hit ice and flipped, leaving him "internally decapitated," after his head smashed a window. Luckily, Topper was driving in front of Meister and his cousin at the time. His cousin called Topper and said that there had been an accident. While she had been thrown from the car, Meister was still inside, and angling to get out.
When Topper got to the scene, he realized how badly his friend was hurt — and because he'd just taken a CPR class, he knew that moving Meister would be dangerous. Instead, Topper cradled his friend's head, holding him in place and patting his chest. "My boy Brock," he said over and over.
"I just knew that if his neck was actually hurt that he needed to be still," Topper shared with INSIDER about what was going through his head at the time of the accident.
Meister’s internal decapitation injury, also known as atlanto-occipital dislocation, is shown by research to be fatal 70% of the time.
Meister's neurologist, Dr. Kashif Shaikh, told Inside Edition that internal decapitations victims are most at risk while still out in the field. Meister, said Shaikh, was "almost like a bobble head doll,” but thanks to Topper's quick thinking he was saved.

3. To Know
Brock Meister was given a 2nd chance at life and made a full recovery only by his best friend being there to help. It is almost certain that he would not have made a full recovery if Ryan had not been there to help him.
Here we have the life of someone hinging on whether or not he knew a friend or not.
To know God is not some form of head knowledge. In our scripture it is much deeper.
The same word is used in the same way a husband and wife know each other.
and if im honest, there are some things my wife would rather not know about me
1 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, 2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
What is Eternal Life?
It is a Person. It is a Relationship. It is being Known by God and to Know God. It is not a serpent in the wilderness, it is not a fountain of youth, it is not a mirage, it is not a figment of your imagination, nor is it cunningly devised fables, It was not fashioned with tools.
It is to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. Knowing God goes much deeper than just knowing his name.
Does his word mean something to you. When you read it is it alive?
When God thinks a certain way about something, does it make you think that way about it?
Do you really spend time in prayer with him?
Do you ask him those things in the depth of you person?
Does your heart burn within you when he is near?
Do you love people the way he does?
No greater end is decided by that Choice.
No worse end is decided by that choice.
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
The most feared statement of all time is this statement right here. All creation waits and groans for the coming of time to that great day of judgement, and nothing else will matter in that day.
Many will say to me in that day Jesus said...... How bout you tonight friend? Do you know him?
14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. 15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.
Jesus gave himself completely to the world.
He gave himself to a world that did not want to know him.
the one who stood in the mountains over jeruselem and could say Jerusalem oooo Jerusalem what i would that I could gather you like a hen Gathers her own.
His heart is was and always will be to know his people and be known by his people.
What is The Chief end of Man?
To Know God and be known by him, to glorify him and enjoy him for eternity.
To know the Savior and the power of his ressurection.
For all will confess that Jesus is Lord,
But not everyone will be able to say, I know God and am known by him.
7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; 10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, 11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Paul knew the truth of Knowing GOd and all of his suffering, being blinded, going through persecution, being called a heretic, dragged outside the city and stoned, shipwrecked and all the while he knew that him following Christ would end up killing him.
Paul says ooo I would give it alll!! that i may gain Christ.
Friend that is knowing Christ!
What are you dealing with, what is your suffering?
It will all be worth it when we stand before him and he says, Well done good and faithful Servant.
Song I love called east to west.
"What is true joy or hope? Where can it be found? Is it a promise of golden streets? Is it in escaping the fires of hell? No.
All things are worthless in view of the surpassing value of simply knowing God and being known by Him. Oh, that I may know Him!
To one day see the Savior who purchased my life by His very own blood, to see the King who suffered to die for a sinner like me..."
