Genesis 25:19-

Pray
Jacob serves Esau stew Gen 25:29-34
Over the course of a few chapters we are given the account of the death of both Abraham and Sarah.
Isaac also takes a wife whose name ie Rebekah.
The beginning of chapter 25 we have a brief genealogy of Abraham’s decendents.
We are going to pick it up in verse 19.
These verses take place after what we have just briefly gone over.
I mention this only for context and chronology.
Genesis 25:19–22 NIV
This is the account of the family line of Abraham’s son Isaac. Abraham became the father of Isaac, and Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan Aram and sister of Laban the Aramean. Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was childless. The Lord answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant. The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, “Why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the Lord.
Isaac was 40 years old when he was married to Rebekah.
This is important to remember for a later chapter.
Rebekah was barren.
Isaac prayed on behalf of his wife and the Lord heard.
Rebekah became pregnant with twins.
Verse 22 tells us that the twins “jostled each other within her.”
The Hebrew word means to struggle or to oppress.
Concerned about the struggling within her Rebekah goes to the Lord.
Two things to point out: Prayer and turning to the Lord in our concerns.
Philippians 4:4–6 NIV
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:7–8 NIV
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
Second aspect is turning to the Lord.
Matthew 11:28–30 NIV
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Turn back to Genesis 25
Genesis 25:23–24 NIV
The Lord said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger.” When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb.
Rebekah inquired of the Lord.
She turned to the Lord.
The Lord spoke to her in these verses.
The reason that the children in your womb struggle is that they represent two nations.
