Greeting and Statement of Purpose

Dear family today we are gathered together, from near and far to remember and rejoice in the life of our dear Papa

Today may Christ be glorified as we honor Pops and thank the Lord for him.

Let’s pray together.

Prayer of Invocation

Our Loving and Most Gracious Heavenly Father, O Lord our God we come before you today, for you are our Comfort and our Strength.

Dear God we ask you to uphold us and strengthen us today and in the days and weeks to come.

We look to you O God for comfort in our grief as Pops was so very dear to all of us.

But Lord we do not grieve as those who have no hope for we know that you have received him unto yourself as you have promised.

Lord you do all things right, indeed it was your time for him to enter into paradise, into your presence, to be with you.

O Sovereign Lord we ask for your blessing upon our time here today,

that you would be very near to us and help us today as we remember Pops.

We thank you for the many happy days of his life with us. And Lord we thank you that even now he is in your holy presence

That you have wiped every tear from his eyes,

that you have brought his sickness and his suffering to an end,

and he is now beholding the beauty of your glorious face.

We thank you for this comfort and pray that you will grant us faith to meet him there,

where we also will rejoice forever in your goodness and love.

Bless our time now together as we seek to remember hI’m

Introduction

Other than my full head of hair…I didn’t know how much of Pops I inherited until I became a father myself.

You see up until then I never had the opportunity to communicate a full lecture to my sons with one fatherly scowl until Makana

Until then I never knew how much joy I would get from constantly blessing my boys with cookies and treats

Until then I never how it felt to command but also receive the respect of my children as their father

And I never knew the burning desire to turn every moment possible into an opportunity to share wisdom with my son

As children and young teenagers, those moments, those lectures as we would call them were challenging

Pops stretched our attention spans
