Make it realistic: If you set the goal of reading a book a week, and you have not read an entire book in the last 2 years, then you will likely fail this goal and start the year off poorly. Set a goal that is within your grasp already yet you have been neglecting. Like buying an informative book and learning knew skills from it.
Make it tangible: Set goals that you can set mile stones and track progress. Like many would be tempted to say “I want to grow closer to God” or “I want to know more about God.” Those are fine goals, but how will you manage your progress? If you say something like “I want to know the characteristics of God”, then you can start the process on the road to understanding. God has many characteristics, and there are plenty of resources to help you understand them better.
Choose a resolution that is within your reach, and has resources that available (Books, websites, documentaries, videos, teachers/coaches, ect.) to you. If you need help setting a goal that you think you can reach, let me know.
