New year,

Popular to make resolutions
Resolutions that will hopefully make us a better person - healthy living, more productive, wiser at money, increase charitable activity,
Christian resolutions - Bible time, increase charitable activity, Active roll in sharing the good news, Communing with God on what may be his plans for you in the next year, forgiving heart, work on sinful areas - Paul talked about a constant thorn in his side.
Jesus came to make a way for us to have that. In accepting him, we are asked to make a few choices - Repent , baptise, learn more about Jesus teachings and share the good news.
Repent - changing of our ways - to get right with Jesus
Address the sin in our lives - Sin against God and Sin against others - 10 commandments
We all want forgiveness, mercy and grace. How are we at reducing sin in our life to not need it as much? How are we at giving it to others?
Jesus said about forgiving others?
Matthew 18:21–22 NASB95
21 Then Peter came and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.
Luke 6:37 HCSB
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Luke 17:3–4 NASB95
3 “Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4 “And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”
Matthew 6:9–13 HCSB
9 “Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]

And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.

John the baptist - baptism of repentance - turning to God from sin
Romans 3:23–24 HCSB
23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. 24 They are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
Romans

6 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 7 For one who has died has been set free from sin. 8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. 10 For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. 13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. 14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.

Hebrews 10:26 ESV
For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
Rejecting Jesus and his sacrifice?
Luke 6:41 41 So why do you see the splinter in your brother’s eye, but not notice the log in your own eye? 42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the splinter from your eye,’ when you yourself don’t see the log in your own eye?
