My life isn’t as Jesus-centric as I thought it was.
The Christian calendar marks many of the events in the life of Jesus recorded in the Gospels.
Not just Christmas and Easter.
Today we mark the circumcision and holy name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It’s an event recorded in Luke 2:15 and is very easy to read past.
Lots here!
Notes from journal
Covenant
Scars, visible, mark, blood.
Bearing the mark, bearing the name.
Don’t like the word “new”.
Page in Bible that doesn’t belong.
Gives the impression that the previous one was bad or innefective.
Old was completed, fulfilled, satisfied.
New builds on the foundation, fleshes-out, incarnation.
Exodus 34:1-9
God reveals His character, his heart and his mind, as he reveals his covenant.
Psalm 8
The name of the Lord, the word of the Lord.
Genesis 1
His name is “majestified” through his word, his creation.
Romans 1:1-7
The dual lineage of Jesus
“for the sake of his name” better for me “on behalf of His name”
“called to be saints”
The sign of his name,
This one who was given the name Jesus and was circumcised in obedience to and as a sign of His people’s covenant with God, would one day be given the name Son of God, and would be crucified and resurrected as a sign and as the means of a new covenant with God available to all people.
