Introduction:
Today’s sermon is more of a devotional from the last couple of days in my bible reading.
I want to stress the three main movements of this chapter - The Spirit, the gospel, and unity.

The Spirit - Acts 2v1-21

John 14-16 and Acts 1 shows us the promise of the Spirit.
The Spirit, promised by Jesus and the Father is here poured out upon the church.
The onlookers had obviously never seen something like this before.
Peter explained that this was a fulfillment of prophecy.
What does the Spirit mean for God’s people? It means that the personal presence of God dwells, not just with, but in His people.
Pray for the Spirit to fill us all in 2023.
Transition: The Spirit gave opportunity to point to the gospel.

The Gospel - Acts 2v22-41

Peter preached the gospel to those that were there. He reminded them that they had crucified Jesus, but God had raised him from the dead and they were all witnesses of it.
The gospel declares to us that Jesus is both Lord and Christ, and we should respond to Him as such.
Pray for us to be Gospel-Centered in 2023.
Transition: The gospel brings us the Holy Spirit. Both of these truths should bring unity to those who profess the gospel.

Unity - Acts 2v42-47

The biggest thing that I notice is that they just kept going in the same direction.
They were unified around apostolic teaching, fellowship, meals, and the prayers.
They met each others needs.
How is it that such a diverse group of people be so unified? The gospel and the Spirit of God in people.
Pray for unity in 2023.
