This week Bible Way Media has asked us to turn our attention to a theme with the New Year here on “Putting God First” in this new 2023 year.
Because of that I would like us to consider some passages today that exemplify that reality we all know but is good to be reminded of.
With that in mind let’s read Luke 10:27.
Putting God first doesn’t get more plain than this teaching of our Lord ans Savior, Jesus the Christ.
What motivates us to live godly lives knowing the consequences of such “will lead” to persecution (2 Timothy 3:12)?
It’s loving our God with “all our heart, all our soul, all our strength, and all our mind.”
Secondly, we find that putting God first means putting his kingdom first in our lives as well.
If we love the Lord our God with our all we will certainly seek his kingdom i.e., the church as our family to help us fight this good fight of faith we are in.
The added benefit of this is that our daily needs will be provided for and we will have no need to worry about them (Matthew 6:25-34).
Thirdly, it’s good to be reminded that because we sin, even as Christians (1 John 1:8, 10), we will be in need of a constant renewal of our spiritual being.
This old sinful world is spiritually challenging on the easiest of days and spiritually draining on the hardest of days.
We need to wake up each day willing to “refocus, and renew our spiritual lives” through study, prayer, and worshiping of our God along with fellowshipping our faithful brothers and sisters.
