“ A inside look of Gethsemane “
36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder. 37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy. 38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. 39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. 40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. 42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. 43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. 44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. 45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.
“ A inside look of Gethsemane “
Subtitle : Deborah”s Crushing Place
Often times
We who are not apart
Of certain things
We wonder and
Become curious
About
What goes on
The inside of certain
Jobs — Organizations — The Masons — The Eastern Star — Fraternities — Sororities
But EVERY CHILD of God
Will not
Have to Wonder
Or be concerned
About
What goes on inside Gethsemane
Because EVERY
Child of God
Will go thru
Gethsemane
If Jesus
The SINLESS SON
Of God
Had to go
Thru Gethsemane
What about you & I
Note: And one of the HARDEST THINGS about being in Gethsemane, it seems sometimes like God don’t even care
Note: Gethsemane will make you want to break up with God [ I QUIT ]
But what
I love about Jesus here
Is that
He is so transparent
About His Gethsemane moment
And we need to learn how to share our Gethsemane moments / TRANSPARENT
Two things should give you Joy about you Gethsemane
1st. It’s God’s Will
2nd. Jesus was in the same Place
The text is tailored to teach us
That Jesus Christ at this time
Is preparing for His date with destiny
That date with destiny
Would be the day that
Jesus would hang—bleed—& die
On a cruel criminal cross at Calvary
That was His destiny—Calvary
But on HIs way
To His destiny
Jesus had to deal with
Difficulties & Distractions
1st: Jesus had to deal with the Conspiracy of People
2nd: Jesus had to deal with Corrupt Pursuits
3rd: Jesus had to deal with the Crushing Place
Often times we PRAY
To cancel the assignment
Of the Devil
When in fact
It’s really God’s WILL
That we are going thru
What we’re go thru
Our Gethsemane / Our Crushing Place
Explain: Matthew 26:39-46
The Mount of Olives
Was a mountainous region
East of Jerusalem
This place call the mountain of Olives
It derived it’s name
From the plethora of trees
The Olives trees that were
Covering the entire mountain
But what made
This mountain so special
Was not the plethora of trees
On the mountain
But what made it special
Was at the foot of this mountain
There was a piece of ground
That was called
The Garden of Gethsemane
The word Gethsemane
Literally means “ oil press “
This place Gethsemane
Becomes synonymous
With the crushing of olives
This place called Gethsemane
Had a nickname
That was called
The crushing place
And Jesus the Christ is at His Crushing Place
Gethsemane or the Crushing Place is not an easy place
It’s a Difficult place
It’s a Daunting Place
It’s a Deep Place
It’s a Discouraging Place
It’s a place of Sorrow
It’s a place of Solitude
It’s a place of Separation
It’s a place of Surrender
Scrip: Matthew 26:38
Matthew 26:38 (KJV 1900) 38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
That “ exceeding sorrowful “
In the Greek means
To be surround with sorrow
Everywhere I turn
I’m surround by sorrow — Gethsemane/crushing Place — Deborah
Note: God will put more on you than you can bare
Exceedingly sorrow
Which means
Everywhere I look
I’m filled with depression
I’m filled with discouragement / Deborah’s Crushing Place
Jesus is at this place
He is Exceedingly sorrowful
And the reason why
I believe that
He’s exceedingly sorrowful
Is because Jesus
Is not only looking
At the Cross of Calvary
But Jesus
Is looking at the olives Trees
And He knows
That the same fate
That the olives has to go thru
He has to go thru
In order for an olive
To reach the fullness
Of it’s potential
And become the anointing oil
The olives got to go through a process
Just like the olives
Got to go through
A process to become the anointing oil
Jesus knows
He has to go through
A process as The anointing one
And Jesus realize 3 things about olives that the same thing will happen to him
1st—The olives had to be Collected (Beating)
2nd—The olives had to be Crush (Bashing)
3rd—The olives had to be Cured (Baring)
1st—The olives have to be Collected - (Beating)
Keep in mind this is in the 1st Century
Jesus knows how olives were collected & beating
whenever they had to collect olives
They would get sticks & beat the sides of the trees
And that would allow the olives to fall to the ground
1st—The olives have to be Collected - (Beating)
2nd—The olives had to be Crushed - (Bashing)
And once the olives was collected
They was put into a press
They was crushed
1st—The olives had to be Collected - (Beating)
2nd—The olives had to be Crushed - (Bashing)
3rd—The olives had to be Cured - (Baring)
The olives had to be spread out on a mat
So they could be cured
And Jesus had to be
Stretched out on a Cross
The same process
The olives had to go through
Is the same process
He had to go through
Jesus realized
That in order to fulfill his purpose
He’s going to have to be
COLLECTED — CRUSHED — CURED
BEATEN — BASH — BARE
COLLECTED — To go to Pilot
CRUSHED — In Gethsemane
CURED — On Calvary for our SINS
Scrip: Isaiah 53:5
Isaiah 53:5 (KJV 1900) 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon him; And with his stripes we are healed.
Jesus had to go to the Crushing Place
And we to
Must go
To our CRUSHING PLACE
And somebody is allowing their Crushing Place to get the best of you
The Crushing Place has robbed you of your rejoice
The Crushing Place has tainted your testimony
The Crushing Place has wither your worship
The Crushing Place has polluted your praise
The Crushing Place has stoled your song
The Crushing Place has wither your walk
Deborah had
An inside look
Of Gethsemane
And Moma & Tanya
You to
Was inside your Gethsemane
As ya’ll
Took care of Deborah
A inside look of Gethsemane
Deborah’s Crushing Place
1st Deborah was in a Place of Sorrow ( V. 38 )
1st Deborah was in a Place of Sorrow ( V. 38 )
38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
Jesus is so transparent
He lets is know
He can just die
Matthew 26:38 (KJV 1900) 38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
Your
SICKNESS — MARRIAGE — HEALTH — CHILDREN
Can drive you
To this place
Where you can just die
Note: People will say “ I’ll NEVER kill myself “ but things can just get that bad at times. Moses — Elijah — Jeremiah
Note: What’s big to me might not be big to you
Note: But you don’t have to kill your self because we already have an appointment with DEATH
Note: [ Pastor Ricky Carter says ] Suicide is a PERMANENT SOLUTION to a TEMPORARY PROBLEM
Note: Jesus state of mind is that He got enough of this
39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
Note: And we say Jesus is a Heart Fixer & A Mind Regulator and Jesus is Struggling

Jesus
Has to go thru this
Alone
Now Jesus stared out
With 12 disciples
Then He went
From 12 - 11
Then from 11 - 8
Then from 8 - 3
37 And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
Deborah
Had to go thru
Her Gethsemane ALONE
Note: Isn’t it funny you can have family & friends connected to you and you still feel all by yourself
But Gethsemane
Is a lonely place
Because
It’s a praying place
And a lot of times
You got to pray alone
Note: Jesus prayer was not based on how He Felt it was based on the presence of God — SOMETIMES I JUST DONT FEEL LIKE IT
Note: 3 Things to know about prayer ( EFFECTIVE PRAYER )
1st. You got to Separate from People ( V. 41 )
2nd. You got to Supplicate with Power ( V. 44 )
3rd. You got to Steadfast in Praying ( V. 45 )

Note: It’s not until you SURRENDER to your Gethsemane that you’ll a be able to handle it
Note: In other words God wants a YES from you
Note: Now I understand we my sister had a hard life because God was preparing her for her Gethsemane
Note: In other words you got to go thru THIS
Example: Joshua crossing the Jordan
Trust the Plan of God
Travel the Path of God
Tread the Promises of God
