Text. Mark 10:23-30

The Problem

Who Are the Top 10 Richest People in the World?
The top 10 richest people in the world are:
Bernard Arnault Net Worth: $164 billion
Elon Musk Net Worth: $128 billion
Gautam Adani Net Worth: $119 billion
Bill Gates Net Worth: $109 billion
Jeff Bezos Net Worth: $109 billion
Warren Buffett Net Worth: $108 billion
Larry Ellison Net Worth: $92.9 billion
Mukesh Ambani Net Worth: $87.3 billion
Steve Ballmer Net Worth: $85.8 billion
Larry Page Net Worth: $83.7 billion
Who Is the World's Richest Man in 2023?
Who Is the Richest Woman in the World?
The richest woman in the world is Francoise Bettencourt Meyers. As of January 2023, her net worth is $71.4 billion. Her net worth is derived from her holdings in L'Oreal, the world's largest cosmetics company.
Now I don’t know what you think but in my opinion, most people would like to be rich. Well there seems to be something special about being rich. For example they drive nice cars and live in mansions and wear expensive clothes and take vacations in 5 star luxury hotels; if we can you name it and rich have it.
It seems to me that it’s not a bad idea to be rich, so what’s the problem? well Jesus said it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. It was a humorous comparison that employed a memorable Jewish proverb to depict the impossible. The earliest manuscripts have “how difficult it is to enter,” but some early manuscripts and related later witnesses have “how difficult it is for those who trust in riches to enter.” When “for those who trust in riches” is present, the passage’s teaching on riches is reiterated and applied to entry into the kingdom. When absent, the application is the difficulty of entering the kingdom, with or without the complication of riches. Rick Brannan and Israel Loken, The Lexham Textual Notes on the Bible, Lexham Bible Reference Series (Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press, 2014), Mk 10:24.
We face a problem in this text Jesus said it is easier; is it easier or is impossible for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for the rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
It’s hard for the rich man to be saved but why is there something wrong with money? well let’s see what the bible says. 18 “But you shall remember the LORD your God, for ait is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. Dt 8:18.

7 “aThe LORD makes poor and rich;

bHe brings low, He also exalts

New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (Chapter 6)
17 Instruct those who are rich in athis present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.
There is nothing wrong with posessing wealth; it’s when we put our trust in it. The Bible says 10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1 Ti 6:10.
Those who put their trust in riches will gamble for it. Those who put their trust in riches will put themselves in creditcard debt; Those who put there trust in riches will become estortionist and commit fraud. Those who put their trust in riches will get involved in money laundering and scamming.
Those who put their trust in money will not put the trust in God. do you think that that is problem?

The Solution

Don’t put your trust in money and amassing wealth(life is not dependent on riches) Act 17:28 For it is God that we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. You Know we often think that it is only the rich that have a problem with God, but can I tell you, it’s not only the rich; had it not been that the Lord was on our side, we would be just as lost as that rich young ruler in our Bible text today.
Have we forgotten the counsel given to the Laodecian Church?
Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
on this day of prayer and fasting, there is a needle eye’s chance to be saved, but we must Go back to the Altar. We must be born again. Want to see a sperm cell? Better have a microscope, because sperm are far too tiny to see with the naked eye. Each one measures about 0.002 inch from head to tail, or about 50 micrometers. A female’s egg is about 100 microns (or millionths of a meter) in diameter, about the same as a strand of hair How tiny? At 3 weeks pregnant, the fertilized egg, or zygote, measures 0.1 millimeters (mm), and it is too small to see. Some of us be born of water and the Spirit. Some of us must be reconsecrated to God.
all things are possible with God

The Transformation

leave all and follow Jesus
leave all and proclaim the Gospel
the reward is more than what we can presently amass
life will be eternal and not temporal
It will be a better world
