I Chronicles 15:1-29, The Ark Brought to Jerusalem

Jesus will never leave us.

[Matthew 28:20: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

Amen].

David paid the price for obedience.

The Lord had spoken clearly about what He wanted done.

[Hebrews 9:4: Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant].

We have God’s Word.

Do it God’s way.

God has a way of doing things.

God prepared a place for the ark of God--a tent--in the city of David.

[I Chronicles 15:1: And David made him houses in the city of David [Jerusalem], and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.

Exodus 25:14: And thou shalt put the staves into the rings by the sides of the ark, that the ark may be borne with them].

The ark of the Covenant represented God’s presence.

Sanctification: set apart; sanctified by God to carry the things of God.

David’s commitment to do it God’s way and being sanctified in that: [I Chronicles 15:12-15: And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.

For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.

So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel].

They are doing everything the right way now.

God commanded them to carry the ark on the shoulder of the Levites.

[I Chronicles 15:12: And said unto them, Ye are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: sanctify yourselves, both ye and your brethren, that ye may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel unto the place that I have prepared for it.

I Chronicles 15:15: And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD].

Celebration: singers with instruments of musick, lifiting up the voice with joy: [I Chronicles 15:16: And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy].

Celebration: the presence of God brings His glory and blessings.

[I Chronicles 15:25: So David, and the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obededom with joy].

Sacrifice: blood atonement.

[I Chronicles 15:26: And it came to pass, when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams].

David is representing the Messiah.

[I Chronicles 15:27: And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, and all the Levites that bare the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers: David also had upon him an ephod of linen].

Michal despised David in her heart.

[I Chronicles 15:28-29: Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart].

Second Samuel 6:23: Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.
