Because of our Father Worry is Unnecessary (vv 26-30)
Because of our Father Worry is Unnecessary (vv 26-30)
When we are young we don’t worry about things like we do when we are adults.
We have this trust that our parents will provide what we need and most of the time never doubt that we will have what we need.
But yet with our heavenly father who is greater than our earthly fathers we are afraid to trust?
Why?
Lack of faith?
Lack of seeing?
Lack of understanding?
The basic idea of these verses is that a believer has absolutely no reason to worry. Why?
Because God is his heavenly father.
He cares for all the creators on the earth and yet we are the ones that He calls sons and daughters.
If He provides for the animals then how much more will He care and provide for us.
He provided for our spiritual needs why should we doubt he will provide for our physical needs.
Fear about Provisions (v 26)
Fear about Provisions (v 26)
Here in verse 26 Jesus uses birds as a 2 fold object lesson.
That region of Galilee is full of hay and grain fields so it comes with a lot of birds.
As they were flying around Jesus most likely pointed them out and used them to help make His point.
1.) Birds do not have an intricate system for providing food for themselves
1.) Birds do not have an intricate system for providing food for themselves
They are not like us we have all kinds of systems and economies set up to allow us to get the things that we need.
The birds don’t.
We work to get money then we use that money to buy what we need from other people or a store.
When we don’t have the money or the store is closed then that is when we start to worry.
Over 85% of divorces happen due to fights and conflicts about money.
When we dont have it, it is the only thing we want.
Money brings what we think is security and means.
But only God can bring ultimate security and safety.
Birds go from place to place looking for the things they need they never wonder if they are going to find it but when are they going to find it.
2.) Birds work for the things they need
2.) Birds work for the things they need
When Jesus used them as an example He was showing that they do not worry about the hows they just work until they have what they need.
We can not just back and wait for things to be dropped into our laps.
God will provide the needs for the ones that are working to do His will.
The gift of life is a gift from God to be used for His purpose, for spiritual and heavenly reasons.
Not selfish and earthly ones.
Our concern should be to obey, honor, and please, and glorify Him.
Leaving everything else to His wisdom and care.
Worry will not Allow you to live longer (v 27)
Worry will not Allow you to live longer (v 27)
We are in almost a constant state of worry when it comes to how long we are going to live.
We as a culture have all kinds of was of trying to squeeze just a few more years of life out of our bodies when in reality it is up to God how long we live anyway.
While those things are good to help keep our bodies in shape and to help us feel better God has put bounds on our lives before the world was ever created.
Worrying about how much time we have left or whats going to happen next only robs us of the current joy we should have in the moment.
The gift of life is a gift from God to be used for His purpose, for spiritual and heavenly reasons.
Not selfish and earthly ones.
Our concern should be to obey, honor, and please, and glorify Him.
Leaving everything else to His wisdom and care.
Trust in God is greater than Worry (v 28-30)
Trust in God is greater than Worry (v 28-30)
In these verses Jesus uses the difference between a flower and the most powerful King Isreal ever had.
Look what He says in 28-29 that not even Solomon himself was clothed as one of these.
what He is saying here is that the things of the flowers are given by God but often times the things that we put on ourselves is often not as good as what God can give us.
Throughout this passage we see Jesus using a lesser to greater type of reasoning that was common during this time in Jewish history.
What He is trying to get across to the people is if God cares this much for the Birds and for the flowers then how much more will he care for us.
