How do we know God?
Knowledge of God comes through Revelation
There are two types of revelation-
General Revelation
Creation
Creation establishes our guilt
Right/ wrong
Made in God’s Image
Special Revelation
This is the scripture
So what is the Bible?
The bible is a collection of 66 writings that were written over a period of thousands of years, that all tell one ultimate story.
They are how God speaks to His people.
So what do the scriptures do/ what makes them special?
They are referred to as God Breathed. This means that when we are reading scripture we are reading the very words of God.
So just like God is perfect, holy, righteous, and loving, His words are perfect and without error and make known to us the God of the Universe.
2 Tim 3:14-17
In this passage what are the roles that scripture plays? What does the Bible do, and what can it be used for?
Making known the way of Salvation
Profitable for teaching
Profitable for correction
Profitable for training in righteousness
Proper for equipping the saints.
Why do you think people neglect certain parts of the bible?
Difficult to understand, and don’t like what it says.
How do you think we can grow to love and trust the bible?
