Intro:

The home is designed to enrich the church, and the church is designed to equip the believer. If the does not experience the reality of God’s presence, and the truth of His Word, it will cease to enrich the church.
If the church cease to be enriched from the homes represented in her, then she will cease to effectively equip the believer. Therefore, Satan knows that if he can destroy the home, he can render the witness of the church ineffective. Christianity is truly birthed in the home. When God’s Word is a reality ion the hole, the home becomes a school for preparing authentic Christian disciples who are witness of Jesus Christ.
Question: Does it seem like our world is spinning out of control and evil is increasing?
How do we protect our families from such evil? The instructions of Moses are just as relevant today as they were in his time.
As Christians living in a sinful world, if we are going to retain our distinctive as God’s people, our families must accept responsibility for this.
Living in the corrupt and evil environment of this world, the answer is not isolation but insulation.
We must make sure our homes are insulated with the reality of God’s presence and Word.
EMBRACE GOD’S WORD Deut 6:1-9
Deuteronomy 6:1–9 NKJV
“Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, that you may fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the Lord God of your fathers has promised you—‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’ “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
A. Significance of God’s Word Deut 6:1-3
Deuteronomy 6:1–3 NKJV
“Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, that you may fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the Lord God of your fathers has promised you—‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’
(Moses) He explained the Israelites personal responsibility to obey God’s commandments because of their covenant relationship with God.
Terms: Statutes: signifies commands of God for daily living
Judgments: refers to God’s judicial verdicts and penalties for crimes committed.
Moses repeatedly used the terms love and fear as essential for Israel’s covenant relationship with God.
1 Samuel 15:22 “So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.”
the heart of any true believer
Israel’s covenant relationship with God was not meant to be merely a cold, mechanical keeping of rules, but a loving relationship with God by faith in Him. The same is true of our covenant relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.
Taking God’s Word to Heart Deut 6:4-9 ““Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
