There is a song that took the church by storm in early 2019. You know my name.
He knows my name Yes, he knows my name He knows my name Yes, he knows my name
And oh, how he walks with me Yes oh, how he talks with me And oh how he tells me That I am his own
You know my name You know my name You know my name You know my name
And oh how you comfort me And oh how you counsel me Yet it still amazes me That I am your friend
I believe that song by Tasha Cobbs resonated with the church because its a promise that God made to us. He said I will call you by name!
Have you ever taken the time to appreciate that God knows your name? Its this word that I can shout on Isaiah 43:1 says But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.
That’s good news! The Lord says I called you by name. He says he created you, form you and he says FEAR NOT
For the fact that the Lord knows you we can live life without fear!
I. We Must Not Live In Fear - Isaiah 43:1
A. The Devil Wants To Make You Fear That He Can Destroy You At Will -
We must not allow the enemy to cause us to fear. Time and again in the Bible an outnumbering enemy would come and threaten God’s people. Immediately the message would come from heaven through the prophets “Don’t be afraid!” Their enemy wanted them to fear, because they knew that if fear could be instilled in their hearts, they could control their every move. When fear is instilled, very little resistance will come from the fearful. Fear has a way of immobilizing us! I dare you to trust God this morning. I don’t know what you are facing today but have confidence that the Lord said Fear Not!
B. God Wants You To Have Faith In Him -
When faith reigns in the heart, fear can’t exist. The Lord needs us to remember that He is worthy of our trust even when things are chaotic.
Everyone of us have have been faced with the challenges. When we get bad news or situations of uncertainty we must rely on the word of the Lord. Its believing it that matters! Either we are going to believe God concerning us or hearing the word of the enemy and believing them. We must ultimately chose to believe the word of the Lord.
The people of Israel had to somehow believe God’s promise after 400 years of slavery. With whats going on in the world today we must believe God. I know it seems like things are spiraling out of control. The enemy has a grip on society! Anytime a 6 year old brings a gun to school and shoots the teacher we know we are in perilous times!
The debacle we witnessed in DC this week where the majority party could not select a speaker. That was concerning. What will happen in DC. Well we cant be fearful. We must trust God is still in control! How many know is still in control?
Fear can paralyze you to be able to live in the freedom we have come to know, but not only as an American, also as a Christian. Fear in one area of your life can translate into fear in all areas of your life. But faith in one area of your life, will help you to face every pain and struggle with faith in other areas of your life.
II. We Must Remember who is with us
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you. (Is 43:2).
The is a part in that song that speaks to this verse,
And oh how you walk with me Oh how you talk with me (you talk with me) Oh how you tell me I am your own
Oh you got to know me So I trust you with my life, yeah
No, no fire can burn me No battle can turn me No mountain can stop me Cause you hold my hand
Now i am not sure if you took time to read this verse closely. The word reads WHEN YOU PASS THROUGH waters I will be with you. This when indicates that is not a situation that will by pass us. He did not say IF he said when. So we will face some enormous situations in life. The metaphoric language indicate we will face over whelming situations but het will not overwhelm us. We will prevail flood and fire. We will pass through waters and walk through fire. We wont drown or be burned. We all will have a Hebrew boys experience! Yes the Lord promises toe be with us!
I don’t who I am speaking to? Just a reminder God is with you! And since he is with you will not get burnt. Your fire can be sickness, disease, lost of job, financial set back, Don’t worry it will not consume you!
Why Its verse 3 For I am the LORD your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior (Is 43:3).
III. We Must Keep Our Eyes On Jesus
When we keep our eyes on Him, in what way must we view Him?
A. As Lord – We must remember that in circumstances that defy understanding and reason, He is sovereign. The Lord has not lost control of the earth as a result of what happened this week. While we don’t understand it all, we need to trust that God is still in charge.

6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Need I remind you?
God Works Every Day
God gets up in the morning
And says, “Another day?”
God goes to work every day
at regular hours
God is no gentleman for God
puts on overalls and gets
dirty running the universe we
know about and several other universes
Nobody knows about but Him.

B. As Savior – Though we often wrestle with the question of why God allows things like this to happen, we must remember that Jesus still died on the cross for our sins and the sins of all mankind. For anyone (and I’m sure there are some) to blame God for allowing this to take place has yet to view the wonder and the power of the Cross.
I said no fire can burn me No battle, it's already won No mountain can stop me (not gonna stop me) Cause you hold my hand ('cause you hold my hand)
Now I'm walking in your victory Cause your power it lives within me No giant can defeat me You hold my hand ('cause you hold my hand)
You hold my hand (you hold my hand) To be afraid, no (you hold my hand) I don't have to be afraid, no (you hold my hand)
I don't have to be afraid (you hold my hand) You hold my hand (you hold my hand) You hold my hand (you hold my hand) I'm so in love with you (you hold my hand)
