Genesis 1:1–2 NKJV
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
We are introduced to God that we understand but cannot fully comprehend
He is Trinity
Father, vs 1
Spirit, vs 2
Son, John 1:1-3 “1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.”
He is apart but involved (outside of space, matter, time)
He is creating, but we don’t know why…or how
He is creative but we can’t fathom the extent of His creativity
We are introduced to a God whom we can understand but not fully comprehend. This is not just ok; it is essential. I need a God who is unlike me and demonstrably superior to me. If I could fully comprehend God, I couldn’t trust Him for all the things I need God for.
