I. The Permeant Priesthood vs. 23-24

A. The Aaronic priesthood was temporary. When the high priest died, so did his priesthood. The priesthood was passed to an heir. So if you’ve got a bad high priest you were stuck with them until their death. Things changed, sometimes good, sometimes bad.
B. Jesus’ Priesthood is forever, and unchanging. (Pastor 5-7 year rule ex).

II. The Praying Priesthood vs 25

A. Jesus can save anyone! Even though they were terrible blasphemer before. Look at Paul, Josh McDowell, and Bobby Clemmons.
B. Jesus is not just praying for the saved, but the lost. II Pet. 3:9
2 Peter 3:9 NASB95
The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
C. He prays for us after we are saved too.

III. The Perfect Priesthood vs. 26-28

A. The old Levitical priest offered a sacrifice for their own sins. Jesus didn’t need to do that, because He is perfect.
B. He is innocent from sin, but not ignorant of sin. He is holy, and will not “wink” at our sin, but He is gracious, merciful, and forgiving of sin.
C. Since Jesus did need to offer anything for Himself, He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for sin.
D. Because of His sacrifice, He is our Great High Priest!
