APPLICATION (what to do with what you hear)
Embrace the conflict & stand firm knowing Christ has overcome the world.
FOCUS (the core of the content to be communicated)
A fish out of water has a very rough go of it.
In fact, unless it somehow makes its way back to water, the rough go will become a certain end.
Some situations are merely disruptive, others are sometimes difficult & others are actually dangerous.
We need to be aware of our surroundings & respond accordingly.
Today we’re beginning a six part series that’s intended to help us succeed at spiritual living in a secular world.
It springs from an Our Daily Bread study on the guidance we get by looking at & learning from the life of the Old Testament prophet Daniel (what a great name).
When all is said & done, my hope is that you & I will be better equipped for & more committed to making a difference by being different as God has His way.
When it comes to cultural conflict, God calls us to …
1. be present in but not polluted by the world.
Refuse to let the world squeeze you into its priorities.
- John 17:15-16 / Romans 12:1-2
2. walk in the light, in the Spirit, in love, in truth & in Christ.
Set your heart’s thermostat on the King & the Kingdom.
John 8:12 / Galatians 5:25 / Ephesians 5;2 / 3 John 4 / Colossians 2:6
Making It Real
1] Can you see & are you convinced this struggle is relentless & real?
2] Will you keep making these choices knowing that’s exactly what they are?
Action Step
Revisit the verses listed in the second point today each day this coming week.
Ask God to show you how to apply them in new, specific & practical ways.
