Introduction

John 14:1 ESV
“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
This verse hit me hard this week as I began getting ready for tonight.
What troubles our hearts? This world is full of trouble and heartbreak. This world is full of things that can trouble us.
READ NEWS HEADLINES
Troubles could be:
school related (grades, sports, relationships)
family related (divorce, sibling disputes, sick family members)
health related (illness, lifelong sickness)
When it comes down to it life is not short on troubles. Their is plenty to crush us. How do we survive it? How do we come out strong? How do we live a life not chained down by the troubles?
Believe in God.

What does belief in God look like?

It is safe to say all you in here believe in God, but does that mean you are all going to heaven, no.
We can say we believe in Jesus, but it is another thing to live it.
Romans 10:9 ESV
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
You must acknowledge Jesus as Lord. For Him to be your savior you must acknowledge his Lordship. You can say some words and be put under the water but if you are not ready to surrender to Jesus as Lord you are just going through religious movements.
Belief in God is a fruitful life of holiness.
What are you doing to cultivate that fruit? What spiritual disciplines are in place?
Marks of salvation:
What/whom do you love?
Jesus
Bible
Church Family
Humility over the Gospel and salvation
Obedience should be obvious in your life
Trials
How do you face them?
Do you continue to cling to faith?
Something i heard this week says salvation is not about perfection, but direction.
What fruit is growing? What evidence are you seeing that can only be accredited to God?
Galatians 5:22–23 ESV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Loneliness Does Not Have to Trouble You (v. 2-3)

Your heart does not have to be troubled by loneliness. “ I go to prepare a place for you” “I will come again”
Christ because of his sacrifice and his wok has made it possible for me to spend eternity with him, a restoration of the Garden of Eden.
Christ promises to come again Christ will have the ultimate victory. Christ has made this all possible and even while we wait for his return we are not alone. He has surrounded us with church family, but most importantly the Holy Spirit has been sent to indwell believers.
John 14:26 ESV
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
This life can get crazy but I find comfort in knowing regardless of what life throws my way I don’t face it alone.

Vision Does Not Have to Trouble You (v. 8-11)

Jesus says here in this passage that if we have seen Him, we have seen God.
Colossians 1:15 ESV
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
What I mean by vision is supernatural/spiritual/eternal vision. We all have wondered about God. Jesus is the visible image of God. He helps us make sense of God and our relationship with Him.
John 1:1 ESV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The Word of God is a Christophany. The Word of God is a miracle. The Word of God is our burning bush. The Word of God is our ram in the bush. The Word of God is our meeting with God on Mount Sinai. God still moves and talks today! He is not sitting idle by.
As we read the Word and encounter Christ we are to make more sense of things in this world and to bear through what we don’t fully understand because we understand the promises of God.

Weakness Does Not Have to Trouble You (v. 12-14)

Their is power in the name of Jesus. Their is no trouble that can stand victorious against the name of Jesus. We can keep our heads up and keep moving in the name of Jesus. We can be victorious in demonic warfare only by battling against them in the name of Jesus. Jesus tells us he will do it, it is no longer I fighting this troubled world, but Christ. I don’t have to be concerned about rather or not I can do it, I just need to be concerned with walking in the Word of God and trust Him to do it.
1 John 5:14–15 ESV
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
So if I want to walk in strength my solution is not figuring out everything going on in the world, but my key to walking in strength is striving to understand the will of God in His word. I need to come to this burning bush daily. Realize the Word is Holy Ground.

Outroduction

To wrap up tonight I want o end with the words we see in verse 6.
John 14:6 ESV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
The way
Realize their is only one way to the Father, all other ways lead to trouble. You cannot pave your own way. You don’t walk to salvation by your strength
the truth
Spiritual truth is not subjective. Their is no negotiating with Jesus. You don’t say I accept this but not this. You recognize Christ lordship, you are not negotiating a surrender
the life
Life was meant o be like it was in the Garden of Eden but that was thrown out of wack by Adam and Eve. Christ has came to restore that life. if we want to live a life full of meaning we need to dwell in Christ not the things of this world. Walk in Christ and you will life a life of fulfilling purpose.
