I. Beached whale in Taiwan exploded.
II. Sometimes, that is how life goes.
III. What do you do when the whale explodes?
IV. There is a better way. Matthew 5:4 ““Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
V. There are other options. Psalm 32:3 “For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.” Ephesians 4:26-27 “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.” Psalm 73:13-14 “All in vain have I kept my heart clean and washed my hands in innocence. For all the day long I have been stricken and rebuked every morning.”
VI. Texas robber at Walgreens. Not smart.
VII. Jesus shows us how to mourn in Matthew 27:46 “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?””
VIII. Read Psalm 30:5 “For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.” Revelation 22:16 ““I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”” Lamentations 3:23 “(His mercies) are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
IX. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” When we mourn, God will comfort us for the sake of Jesus. Every morning is a new day of comfort and mercy from our gracious and loving God. Amen.
