Introduction
Good Fight, Right Race, Steadfast Faith
Ultimate goal is heaven - Sojourner here for a little while (This World is Not My Home”
We are on a journey of faith, persistence and joy
Today we are going to talk about the Importance of our faith journey and growing our relationship with God

1. God Desires a Relationship With Us

God loves us no matter what. He is not looking for perfect people, but He loves everyone who seeks to know Him. He desires to have a personal, loving relationship with us because He cherishes us and has a plan for us to live a life of purpose, joy and fulfillment.
Philippians 4:19 ESV
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 103:13 ESV
As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
Isaiah 48:17 ESV
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.
He is not looking for perfect people, but He loves everyone who seeks to know Him.
John 3:16 ESV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
We do not serve an unapproachable, impersonal, unforgiving God
He desires to have a loving relationship with us because He cherishes us and has a plan for us to live a life of purpose, joy and fulfillment.

2. The Power of Obedience

A. Obedience to God leads to blessings
John 15:10 ESV
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.
B. Obedience assists in our ability to receive understanding and clarity.
Proverbs 3:5–6 ESV
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
C. Obeying God’s laws allows us to experience spiritual joy and contentment.
1 Samuel 15:22 ESV
And Samuel said, “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.

3. The Challenges of Obeying God

A. Denying Ourselves
This is your #1 Obstacle in a solid, biblical relationship with God
Satan did not entice Eve to cuss, fight with Adam, be drunkard and other sinful things. He simple enticed her to deny God’s word. by default, sin naturally follows
B. Overcoming Temptation
1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Obey God can be difficult because it requires sacrificing personal desires or activities for the greater good.
3. Choosing Righteousness
Once again, there are a host of things competing for your attention in the world - But always choose righteousness
Various ideologies, political groups, worldly causes, pundits, talking heads, entertainers, popular religious figures, and so on.
But no matter what they’re trying to get you to buy, Always choose righteousness
Joshua 24:15 ESV
And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

4. The Reward of Obedience

The reward of obedience God as we press forward is eternal life
1 John 5:13 ESV
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.
Jesus Christ gave up His life so that we can be saved and enter into a right relationship with God. Through faith in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, and obeying the Gospel, we can be forgiven of our sins and be welcomed into the family of God.
