The Key to Success // Joshua 1:8

Alright, so we'd be on the series. That wasn't God's roadmap for your life and end on the 1st. We talked about a glass blueprint for success and then last week we did a part 2 of Bud, lies blueprint for success. And today I want to reiterate that as we look at the key to success, the key to success. And this morning, we're going to be in Joshua chapter 1 hour, Focus verse this morning will be on verse 8, but before we focus on first aid, I'd like for you to see the whole context of what's going on here in in Joshua. And then after that, we going to spend our time, we will focus on verse 8. So, as you read this passage, just think about some things that you see, then you will see the key to success. Is that we stay in God's word. The key to success is that we stay in God's word and we do it. So let's read here from Joshua will read verse 1 to 11, but when we come back, we only going to focus on verse 8. So Joshua chapter 1, verse 1 through 11. After the death of Moses, the servant of the Lord. The Lord said to dress your son of nun. Moses assistant, go over this. Jordan, you and all this people into the land that I am giving to them to the people of Israel. My servant Moses is dead. That's it. You know, go get up and go, where's 3, every place that the sole of your foot will. Tread upon I have given to you just as I promised to Moses. From the Wilderness and this Lebanon. As far as the Great River, the river Euphrates, all the land of the he tights through the great sea to were the going down of the sun shall be your testimony, as I was with Moses. So I will be with you. I will never leave you or forsake, you be strong and courageous for you shop cuz this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them only be strong and stay with me very courageous, being careful to do, stay with me all according to all the Lord and Moses my Servant, commended, you do not turn from it to the right or to the left. That you may have what good success wherever you go. Now, he's are keyboards today. This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth but you shall meditate on it day and night, then you shall be careful to do. All that is written in it for. Then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success. Verse 9 says, I have I not commanded, you be strong and courageous do not be frightened and do not be dismayed for the Lord. Your God is with you wherever you go. And Joshua commended his officers and the people. Is flu, the midst of the camp and commend. The people. Prepare your Provisions for women, three days. You are to pass over this drawer, to go in to take possession of the land that the Lord, your God is giving you possessed, giving you to possess You got to love Joshua. God says, go. Joshua and Joshua went right to work. You say let's break, father, as we study your word now may your word not return void. May you teachers may you help us this morning to learn from Joshua. What you want to teach us today? In Jesus name, we pray, amen. Amen. Repetition is the mother of all learning repetition is the mother of all learning. A lot of things, you will hear today you've heard before the last two weeks, but repetition is the mother of all learning the way that we learn is that we need to hear it again and again, and then we'll finally grabbed hold of it and then we start doing it. And then we start seeing the success that we need to see in Joshua 1. Verse 8, it says this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth. But you shall meditate on it day and night and you shall be careful to do. All that is written in it. Then you will make your way prosperous and have good success. See hear God's word is very clear. It says this book of the law. Shall not depart from your mouth. That's why our first appointment this morning is your message. Note assembly this to be successful. Ultimately, like, really successful, you need to do four things. And the first one is that you need to be mesmerized by God's word. You need to be mesmerized by God's word, says, this book of the law. Shall not depart from your mouth, is he? It's like, you can't help but bring it up on every occasion. See God's word, you so saturated with God's word. God's word is so much part of you. You cannot get away from it. If you want to have God's word clothes, you want to keep God's word close at all time and to be mesmerized by God's words like you fascinated by God's word. When you hear God's word, when you read God's word and you see what it says is like, Have you ever read some scriptures? And then after that, you just feel something after you read that scripture, after you read it, like, you know, something goes down to your soul and that's what this is God's talking to Joshua.

God says, let not my word depart depart from your mouth. That means you need to be mesmerized by God's word. Joyed needs to be a pleasure when you pick up guys were in in 3 days, like it's kind of like the best part of your day when you're going to spend time in God's word, it says let not my words apart from your mouth, we use our mouths to speak. We use our mouth to eat, right? All the important things. That's how we communicate primarily with our mouths and the way that we get things into US full album, I'll be getting some food and get some good nutrient. That's what God is. Telling Joshua H, let not my words apart from your mouth, that means you need to read it. That means you need to say it that mean. You need to speak at that means, you need to sing it. See you need to be so mesmerized by God's word it's like now everytime you speaking. God's word is coming out. When you praying praying God's word, you see when you are reading it, you're internalizing in the God's word is getting into you, you just break into singing, that's why a lot of the songs that you sing their scriptures. And we see the songs, a lot of them, that they really touch you down your soul, not just your emotions, are the songs that are based on scriptures, See it does something to you got to sing a a you want to be successful in life. It starts with you being mesmerized, by my word is like, when you hate my word, like you were excited. Like

Restart what God's word says. This is crazy. Exciting. See God says, another for you to be successful in life, you should not let God's word the part from your mouth. You see him acts 17:28. It says in you, we move and we leave and we have our being

God's word is just just crazy for me in God. That's where we have our being. See God is telling us is that a when we see his word we need to be so excited. So mesmerized by God's words was like we just so saturated with a saturated, our mind with his word so that means we need to memorize it. See if we are mesmerized by something or by someone we know a lot of things about them. See, if you have a family to favorite athletes, you view, you know, all kinds of facts about that athlete. Don't you? See, if you see somebody that you're interested in, or you want to find out all the good stuff about them, okay? But it's the same thing you got it. You want to be successful, be mesmerized by my word, memorize it, memorized speak it out. She speak it all the time. Amber Deuteronomy 6 with look at last week. When it's talking about you, those of you who have children, you speak it to them when they're laying down. When they getting up, you speak it to them all the time in the same. We need to be speaking God's word to our self and speaking God's word to others. Sometimes you going? Some difficulties. You know what? Gets you out of it. Start speaking God's word to yourself.

See, you have a difficult times and people are out against you and just want to do all kinds of you. Start saying no weapon formed against me shall prosper. See you this other things that build you up. You're going for a hard time. You having extra starts you having a difficulties. You start speaking God's word to yourself, be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ. You see sometimes when you go into the difficulties, you have to speak God's word to yourself. That's why it says, let not my word depart from your mouth, that means you need to speak into yourself. There are some things that you face in life. You better hang on to God's word as your anchor because that can save your very life. That's what some 23 says. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear. That means whatever. Comes your way, you can overcome Ed, Lugo God's word.

Once you read God's word. Now you need it. You got to speak of God's word to yourself. You see when your mind is going all different directions, God works is set your minds. Where on the things above, not on the things that are here. You seem to focus on the things that are here, we can lose our mind. But God's is a redirect. It set your minds on the things that are above and that goes for any other areas of your life, as you going to any other area of your life, you need to learn Gods, would you need to memorize it? So that at the right moment, You can speak God's word to yourself. It says this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, someone 1911, put it this way. I have stored up your word in my heart. Why that I might not sin against you. So it's saying that you are so mesmerized about God's word, you want to do it because you don't want to mess up. You don't want to spend. And the way that you keep yourself from sin, is by storing up by memorizing, God's word in your heart. So God told Joshua a the way. That you are ultimately successful in life is by keeping my word closed see. Sadly only 32% of Christians read their Bible regularly. Only 32% of Christians read their Bible regularly, that means only three out of 10. Actually read their Bible regularly. See be part of that, 32% K Reed, your Bible regularly and that's why I asked Frank that we give them bad testimony of our faith because so many of us are not applying it or not living our faith. We said we are Christian, but we not reading the Bible. Where do we get our standard? Where do we get our truth? Where do we, how do we know how to live? Cuz the Bible is a prescription for a living. The Bible tells us how to live. see, but if only 32% of us are regularly reading our Bible, No wonder why where we are today that a lot of us are not being as successful as we need to be remember now. Success is Not only mean money. K6s means like if you have some good friends, Very successful. There's a lot of people who do not have any friends in their lives and their lives miserable. And there's are rich people while they may have a lot of attention when they go to a function when they go to one evening, but when they go home, they just go back to an empty place and they have nobody to share it with little Benny Goodman. Can you come over and spend some good time with me that, you know, that they genuinely care for you? See, if you have some good friends in life, guess what? That is a sign of success. That is a sign of success. It is not just money, okay? Blessing with money. It can be a sign of success but it can be a sign of curse for some people, their money destroys them, but it was, I was reading a recently about a girl who won the lotto at 17 years old in and in England. Because it's 16, you can start playing. She wanted and she said that's the worst thing that ever happened to her life.

Because she was able to do things that she would not have been able to do if she was broke. Cuz she went and had, you know, butt implant breast enlargement. You name it a surgery in her face cuz she had a self-image problem. Is that really destroyed or she end up having like sepsis, and almost died?

Easy money is not always a sign of success. When God is talking, about success, to you is living out, you know, God's plan for your life, because that's what John 10:10 says. God says, I canceled that you might have life and have it how to the pool, having a fundamentally with the, what God is talking here about success is talking about. The Abundant Life is Walking In God's plan for your life. Because the Bible says, I know the plans I have for you, they are plans to prosper you and not to harm you. They are pledged to give you a huge. See when we talkin about success, you is, it's about living the life that God had created for you to live. That's what success means, okay? It might mean money. It might mean promotion, it might mean, you know, many other things that the world highly regard. but if you are walking in God's plan for your life, you are being very successful in God's eyes. So I told you my word depart from your mouth. So so it's the first thing is to be Memory mesmerized by God's word and the second thing got still Josh for his that you need to meditate on the word, you need to meditate on the word. Meditate on the word visit size, but you shall meditate on it day and night. For another to be successful in life. You need to be mesmerized by God's word, memorize it. Verbalize it And also, you need to meditate on God's word. Meditate means you take a sit back and you really thinking about it, you really pondering about, it's you asking yourself, how do I apply this in my life? Just like you see using the soap approach. You can sit back in the a pic. Versus K9 out. What's my observation? What's my application? Say, how can I apply this in my life and then you stopped praying about it? God help me to live that word that I just read that. I've just heard help me to live it out. Joshua says That you God said to Joshua but you shall meditate on it. When Day and night. So God is sending a unit of strategy. Get units ready to don't just say that. I'm going to read God's word but God says 8:00. You need a strategy. Okay, you need to develop some new habits. What are those habits? We need to start with the word and and with the word you see you, there you shall meditate on it. When a and nights of start your day with the word and end your day with the word, you see. I think that does the saying that says, it's not your your dreams that determines what you end up doing in life, but it's your habits that determine your future. See, your dreams doesn't determine your future, but it's your habits that determine your future. You got some good habits, you have some very bad habits. It ain't going to happen. It doesn't matter how much that you dream about the success of my Tuesday, to dream about that future. It doesn't matter, but it's your habits that's going to determine whether you are successful in God's plan for your life, makes sense and night. This is my challenge for you this week. My challenge for you is that you start your day with God's word. Start your day with God's word. Not your phone. Cuz most of us do you want to wake up? The first thing you grab, what is it?

No guilty face.

Most of us, we just got up. Grab that phone k.

I challenge you this week. Why don't you wake up? Get a paper Bible, if you don't have a paper Bible anymore, grab one back here. Take it. It's free of charge and joy, you wake up in the morning, you turn on that light, read a portion of scripture and then kneel down and pray. And then see what God does in your life. Can you do that? 4 wake up. Just get on your knees. And go ahead and talk to God. And after you talk get up, get your Bible and go read. Now, those of you I know that you just will not pick up a paper Bible. The night before you go to bed, open up your Bible app J, put it in the scripture, you want to read, whatever reading plan that you're following through, read in the morning. And then when you wake up, when you grab your phone, at least, it will be in scripture. Now if you did. That's you So, can you do that? Start your day this week, but I just went to get up. Get on your knees. There's nothing magical about getting on your knees, all that it means you just like you show your dependents to God, you just show God a God. I'm giving this day to you. God I'm depending on you today. I got I don't want to make any decisions without you. I want to start my day with you. It's an invitation you just inviting God. It got I want you to be it in my life today. I want you to lead and guide my day. I'm not even ask me to do this for for 20 minutes or 30 minutes or 15 minutes. Just get up. You pray for 2 minutes. You read your Bible for 3 minutes. Wherever you are now, okay. But if you already have the habit of reading 1530 an hour, keep it going. But let the first thing that you do is not news alerts. That's the first thing that you do. It's not a Facebook alert, let it not be a text message. Okay, let it let it tick tock, okay? But let the first thing that you drink yourself into giving says, let not your lord depart from my mouth, but meditate on it day and night and I would repeat it at night, but that's not part of your assignment will take baby steps, okay? We dream big. That we start small. Okay, so this week just when you get up, just get on your knees in front of your bed. And then, if you're going to grab your phone to read, make sure you put scripture on at the 94 in the passage. You going to read all pick up your paper Bible with me. Alright, meditate on God's word day and night. Look at what David said, if it says I will do, I save with me. Meditate on your precepts. That means your word and what Fix My Eyes on your ways. You see that? Mesmerizing see, David was mesmerized by God's word. Davis is a, I'm going to fix my eyes on. You always I'm going to gaze. I'm going to to to have that laser-like focus on you to another to be successful in life ultimately like shrew success. Real success. We need to be memorized by God's word and we need to meditate on God's word, regularly day and night. Look at Philippians 4:8, says finally Brothers, whatever is true, whatever is an orrible. Whatever is just, whatever is pure or whatever is love. Whatever is commendable if there is any Excellence, if there is anything worthy of Praise, what do you need to do? I think on those fingers meditation. See, a lot of times we get depressed because we not meditating on God's word. And God says a, when we have tendency to be depressed, what do we need to do?

Back on his word, read it with me. Whatever is true. What is true? God's word. So you pull out of our house. That's why you need to memorize it. Will you read? You see what I'm saying? Whatever is true, whatever is unknowable. That means you living for God, you doing the right thing, that means you obeying, God's word, whatever is just what is yours again? God is just so you think about God, whatever is pure that you doing the right thing. You will be in God's command, whatever is love the good things. Don't think about the bad things about people, get a God says, you need to love God and love people. Whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, that's something that you will want your kids to do, you would want for your best friend that you would want for your parents. You will want good thing, whatever is commendable, see, good things. If there is any excellent. If there is anything, worthy of praise You think about this thing. So that's the recipe here. Got to say, you want to stay up beach in your life. You don't want to stay down. When did when you tend to go down? This is this is what you do. You think on my word, shank on. God things, see how he can bless somebody. See God is saying, that's how you do you think on these things and God says, he will give you his feet. That's what the rest of the brain. And the God of Peace, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. God says, when you do this I'm going to I got you. Someone 1997 is. Oh, how high? You see, meditation on God's word, is your money, where your mouth is? That that's the expression, right? See the song me stores by seeing how I love your lord and then he went and prove it. If you love something, you got to be saturated by, right? Make sense. So you can like somebody who has a girlfriend but the boyfriend never calls you. He doesn't like you.

If you can't even look at me, 17, 18 to 20 and when he sits on the throne of his kingdom he shall write for himself in a book, a copy of this little approved by the levitical priests and it shall be with him and he shall read it all the days of his life that he may learn to fear the lord. That's how serious this is. God 18, excuse King to be in his word that he is hard. May not be lifted up, frightful above his brothers and that he may not turn aside from the commandant either to the right or to the left so that he may continue long in his kingdom. So tired thing, third thing that we need to do to experience success ultimate success in our lives. To remember, we need to be mesmerized by God's word. We need to meditate on God's word and then we need to meticulously keep God's word and live it out. We need to meticulously keep God's word and live it out. So kids meticulous to see you looking at me that just means you need to be very careful to do it. Exactly a guy that says, with me, alright, remember the verse Your love. The Lord shall not depart from your mouth but you shall meditate on it day and night and you shall be careful to do. According to all That is in his word you with me. That's in your message note if you look there. Okay meticulous. We need to be meticulous about keeping his word and live it out in Genesis 6:9. I love this about Noah. It says these are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man blameless in Hughes generation. Noah walked with God. You got to love this. See I was reading this this week as I'm reading a reading plan for the Old Testament, Old Testament and New Testament this year. And in this verse really get my attention this week. As I was reading this verse that says, Noah was a righteous man blameless in his generation in my question, for me. What am I being blameless in my generation? Am I living righteously in my generation? And that's God's frigard. That's God's will for you that you will be righteous and blameless in your generation. Now it says, Noah walked with God. And look at this one in 622 to know why did this. He did all God. Commended him for us that the last day when we meet guys against a to God, a God, I did all that. You have commanded me to do. That was no one, good example. For us. Look at Moses this Moses did according to read with me all that the Lord God commended him. I'll be meticulous about doing God's word. I will make sure you were awake. You were awake and then got this. When you do those things, the result equals prosperity and success. Look at the last part of verse 84. Then you will make your way prosperous and then you will have good success.

When my word doesn't depart from your mouth, when you meditate on it day and night when you are careful to do, according to all that is written. And my word got to say, I just love the words word. It says you will make your way prosperous. Did you see that? It is a God will make your way prosperous. It says you will make your way prosperous. So now it's up to you to grab it.

Does that make sense? To God is saying 8, it's already yours now. You need to grab it because you will make your way prosperous by doing those things. And then God says, you will have good success. Luke 1-37 says, for Nothing is Impossible with God. You do some of you may be looking at, you just not know where I am right now, he's talking about all that stuff. That sounds like, it'd be a bunch of talk right now because you just don't see God's hand in your life right now. You may not see the Abundant Life that God promised right now. But God says nothing will be impossible with God. Sagacity your life may not look like it right now. It may seems impossible to you right now. But God says, I got this I got this. Trust me. I got this. Do this thing's be mesmerized by my words. Memorize it. Meditate on it. Be meticulous about doing it and living it out and then you will see what I will do. Remember the song We Ready earlier to some trust in chariots, and some in horses. But where should our trust be? We Trust In The Name Of The Lord, our God. When you trust in God, God will act. Verse 7 says only be strong and very courageous being careful to do. According to all the law of Moses, my servant commended you do not turn from it to the right or to the left. That means don't deviate from it. That you may have. What? When where wherever you go?

He's another one for you. Second, Timothy 1:7 For God gave us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and self-control. God give it to you. God did not give you a spirit of fear. You see a lot of us we don't experience prosperity and success in our life because of fear, we were afraid to take the next step. We are afraid to do. What is necessary, you see

Most business will have failed, guess what? Look at me. Most business will happen at the would have failed, guess what? The never Story 2.

It just stayed in the heart of the person. We wanted to start that business. It only stayed in their mind cuz fear overcomes down. What about this? What about that? What about, what about this? What about that? They never started. and as a result, It failed because it never came to fruition. See you, when you see little business failed. I please just people. They try and then learning something and then we'll try again, it should be better and it when they feel they will try again, then maybe they'll learn something and it gets better. You see? I think they working towards their plans. They working toward their goal, but most business dies in the end, they already failed because they have never started and a lot of us. That's how our life is. We've never fully trusted in God to really give it all up to him. And as a result, we never experience the Abundant Life that God has four of us. Bible is clear, God has a plan and a purpose, and God has a good future for our lives. So let's read a verse 8 together. Sage with me this book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night and you shall be careful to do all that. Sorry. I memorize a different version. Let's start over, let's just try again. This book of the Lord shall not depart from your mouth but you shall meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful to do. According to all that is written in it for. Then you will make your a prosperous and have good success. Let's read verse 9 have I not commanded. You be strong and Curry. Ages, do not be frightened, trust God and do not be dismayed for the Lord, your God is with you, wherever you go, whatever area in your life right now that you need to trust. God, go ahead and trust God. Now and see that God will act on your behalf. Make sense. Alright, use the message in a nutshell. The key to success is simply trust in his word and Obey. Can we do that? The key to success is simply this trust in his word. And obey.

For God will honor those who honor him. God will honor those who honor him. Father, thank you for your grace. Thank you. This morning. For your word, may, your word do NS. What you have purpose for it to do and father it is my prayer this morning that you would help us to trust and obey. for your word, says, Enriched rice and real bae. You you will direct our steps, you will make our past, right? As the song says trust and Obey for, there's no other way. but to trust and obey, Father I pray for each one of us here. I pray that you would give us the boldness to trust you in every aspect in every area of our lives and see you work. See you work?
