Text: II Timothy 3:16-17
Aesop, the ancient storyteller, told this fable: Once upon a time, a donkey found a lion's skin. He tried it on, strutted around, and frightened many animals. Soon a fox came along, and the donkey tried to scare him, too. But the fox, hearing the donkey's voice, said, "If you want to terrify me, you'll have to disguise your bray." Aesop's moral: Clothes may disguise a fool, but his words will give him away.
Talk is cheap because the supply always exceeds the demand. One of the lessons of history is that nothing is often a good thing to do and always a clever thing to say. Will Durant.

Matthew 12:31–37 KJV 1900
Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come. Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Jesus points out 4 kinds of words. • Profane Words • Poisonous Words • Productive Words
Every word is profound… I. Your Words are profound because people hear them. You are Justified by your words - Your words tell others about your Faith. II. Your Words are profound because God hears them.
Matthew 12:36 KJV 1900
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Consider the words that God uses to build.
A Word that Builds
So when I say "Bible" this is what I'm talking about, these 66 books that have been the foundation for the Christian faith since it's very beginnings.
Now as modern Americans, we're Bible rich. 24% percent of Americans own at least five Bibles.
2 Timothy 3:16–17 KJV 1900
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Now this fundamental characteristic of being God-breathed makes the Bible is "useful." This word means "practical," and "beneficial." I think the word "productive" captures the meaning here, that because of the Bible's source, it has vital practical relevance for our lives.
"The Word of God is the golden lamp hung out of heaven, to enlighten the nations that sit in darkness ... The Bible, in the original tongues, comprises all the revelation now extant which God has given to this world ... This perfect book is the sacred deposit in the hands of the church ... Woe be to him that attempts to obscure the light of the lamp of heaven." Adonirum Judson - Baptist missionary to Burma (circa 1800's)
Words that God uses to Build
The infallibility of God's word is that it is all - Truth The Bible is inspired not inspiring.
1. Inspired simply means "God breathed"
Notice it does not matter if it makes us feel good it its God's word.
God's truth made it so that we had building words. Not feel good words.
The end Goal of Words that Build are - Thoroughly furnished unto all good works
Words that Build are true over sensational.
2 Peter 1:20–21 KJV 1900
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
1. Man did not use their will
2. God spoke to them
3. Because God wrote the Bible it is true.
Preacher what does this have to do with my words.
Idleness of words - reason your words are profound. The whole of this is that the value of our Words are the truth contained in them.
The Words that give away Truth . Words that Teach Truth - Doctrine
Words that Establish Truth - Reproof
Words that Correct in Loving Truth - Correction
Build Not Bully Correction is like changing the flow of moving water. It is the long course correction that has to be day after day.
Words that Demonstrate Truth - Instruction
Us Lead others to the Word We must be those that build, you only have so many words to use use them to build someone or something.
Read it Heed it Feed it.
