The Tower of Babel

The Bible Knowledge Commentary 2. The Dispersion at Babel (11:1–9)

It is a message of judgment: what they prided themselves in became their downfall, and what they feared the most came on them (cf. Prov. 10:24a).

The narrative hinges on, “the Lord came down” (vs. 5)

The sin of the people of the plain of Shinar appears to be immense pride - open rebellion against God (independence from God)
