He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him. If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that he should make request for this. All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death. We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him. We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. Little children, guard yourselves from idols.
Prayer
He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
If we have the Son we have eternal Life
This is where the Joy of the Lord comes from
If you have the lord you too share His life as for all other believers this makes us family
Even a deeper family that flesh and bones but a spiritual family that will endure long beyond the flesh and bones.
Therefore I know many of you are troubled by the flesh in your family they are against you they are against you
They are indifferent to you
There seems not to be love
I know it grieves your heart
WE can focus on them we can become drained by thinking of where we wish they would be it will lead only to rob you of your Joy
Johns purpose here is to tell you how your joy may be full
Last week we talked about one way is by loving God loving his son and loving gods children born of him
This is so very important because we can make no one believe
We can make no one come to the faith
as much as we may try
It is ultimately in the lords hands
Not to say we don't pray we should not to say we don't witness we must
But salvation is of the Lord not man
WE cannot make them love either for love is a gift of God it hurts so deeply when the ones we love so much we pray for so much we invest in so much we nurture only turn us aside and choose to walk a different lifestyle apart from us
Hear me if that's you i feel your pain right now I have this issue at this very moment
But hear me also do not place so much attention on them that it robs you of your joy
Lets keep our focus on the one who gives life who thereby gives love
Lets be thankful for the spiritual family God has blessed us with.
This is why im so thankful for all of you. Like it or not you are my spiritual family
You and I were adopted into this special wonderful family
That we need to focus on cherish nurture serve and protect.
But like most adopted kids there is till a biological link to our blood family a desire to make things right, WE should want such things but as long as satan rules over this world it will not always be possible
For if they are of the world and you of God there will be a division
Jesus promised this
I know that doesn't make you feel better but hear me out He wants you to focus on the blessing He has given you
Runaway foster or adopted Kids example
Like a Foster parent or a adopted parent God has come to your rescue He has pulled you out of this world and the things of this world He wants your attention and deserves your respect but longs for your thankful and loving heart
He starts off the book the reason for writing it
These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.
Then here as he is writing his conclusion he says this
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
He write to those who believe so that you may know that you have eternal life
So for the Joy to be full we must have eternal life
WE must know that we have eternal life
How can we know
He has lined out over the last 5 chapter how we can know
Now John is wrapping his letter to the believer up as he concludes he tell us
Anything we ask according to His will
this directly goes along with his Gospel as Jesus said
“Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Have you read Scripture, learned in Sunday School class, Bible study, or worship that Jesus said, ‘whatever you ask in my name’? There are times when the words of the Bible have been used as a tool for someone to have an excuse for what is happening or not happening in their life. When the future or the answer is unknown, there may be times when we have said, “I asked God, but I didn’t get the answer I wanted. I asked God and ended my prayer with, “In the name of Jesus.” But, then, the desired answer didn’t come. This is one example of not knowing what the words ‘whatever you ask in my name’ truly mean. Through reading Scripture and studying His Word, we can glean valuable wisdom and wonderful lessons that apply to today’s world.
You may have seen beautifully painted signs, colorful stationery, memes, or wall art with the words ‘whatever you ask in my name.’ If you have seen those words, what emotions did you feel? Did those words bring you comfort, knowing God is in control? When you pray, do you thank God for being able to bring your worries and joys to Him? Do your prayers end with the words “In the name of Jesus”?
Think about those words. ‘Whatever you ask in my name.’ Going to God in every situation brings us closer to Him and strengthens the relationship with our Heavenly Father.
What Did Jesus Mean When He Said ‘Whatever You Ask in My Name’?
What Did Jesus Mean When He Said ‘Whatever You Ask in My Name’?
Our prayers open the door to a relationship with the Lord. Sometimes we are filled with words and other times, our hearts may be breaking, and the words won’t come. In each situation, God is listening and hearing. When we ask for healing for a family member, friend, or stranger, we are petitioning God and asking Him to do what only He can accomplish. Scripture tells us to bring our prayers to God and ask for anything. Ask in His name, the name of Jesus, and find comfort knowing that whatever will be done is for the glory of God, not the glorification of ourselves.
When we ask in His name, we are placing our faith and trust in God’s plan (John 14:13 NIV). How do you feel when you read those words or hear the words ‘whatever you ask in my name’? Perhaps a feeling of comfort as you rest in His promises. Or perhaps a feeling of peace as you know God will answer in the best way.
The Applied New Testament Commentary puts it this way: "In order to do mighty works, the disciples would need to pray. In order to receive the power of the Holy Spirit, we need to pray for it. We need to pray for it in the name of the risen Christ, with whom is all authority and dominion in heaven and on earth. Jesus said, “I will do whatever you ask in my name.” “Whatever” we ask in Jesus’ name He will do! There are no limits to the power of prayer.
We usually ask Jesus for such small things. But He can do anything. He can do more than all we can ask or imagine
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
To pray in Jesus’ name means to pray in His stead, to pray as His representatives on earth. We are Christ’s ambassadors
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
When we pray in His name, we pray with His authority. We pray for His sake. We pray according to His will. When we pray in this way, Jesus will do whatever we ask. Notice here that Jesus Himself answers our prayers. God answers them; Jesus answers them. God and Jesus do everything together; there is no difference. It does not matter whether we pray to Jesus or to God; they both hear and answer together."
In the Bible, John 14 shares a conversation between Jesus and the disciples. Jesus tells them not to be troubled. He tells the disciples that His Father has many rooms in His house. Jesus assures the group He is preparing the way for them. Jesus tries to comfort the disciples. As Thomas asks how they can know the way, Jesus speaks heartfelt and honest words (John 14:6 NIV). Philip wants proof. He wants tangible means of knowing the way. Jesus once again answers and reminds the group that He is in the Father and the Father is in Him. Jesus says that He is going to the Father and the people will do great things if they believe.
esus shares that He will do whatever they ask in His name, so the Father will be glorified (John 14:14 NIV). Perhaps some people understood and maybe others still wondered.
This is a great reminder that when we ask God for something, we need to seek to glorify Him and share His love. We can talk to God at any time. He will answer according to His plan, not ours.
Whether we are troubled or feel at peace, we can have conversations with God. He will bring peace and comfort to us. Prayer opens the line of communication with the Father.
What Does ‘Whatever You Ask in My Name’ NOT Mean?
What Does ‘Whatever You Ask in My Name’ NOT Mean?
We can find peace knowing God will hear our prayers. When the words won’t come, we rest in the knowledge God understands. Praying is something we can do at any time day or night. Prayers said out loud or prayers whispered, God listens.
Healing prayers for friends, family, strangers, or ourselves are heard by God. Petitions for safety, shelter, food, financial help, for a prodigal to return home, for a relationship to be blessed, and many other concerns are brought to God in every moment.
When we ask for help with these issues or others, we are recognizing the power of God. We are placing our faith and trust in the Father
Asking or praying for something materialistic we want that will only benefit ourselves is not glorifying God.
Praying to God and asking for a new car just so someone can brag about that car is not glorifying God. Praying for a new car to help shut-ins get to church, medical appointments, and the grocery store safely is a different situation.
Our prayers don’t have to be asking for something. We can pray to God and give thanks for His mercies, love, forgiveness, and provisions.
Each time we pray the words, “In the name of Jesus,” we are showing love for Father and Son.
Praying in the name of Jesus does not mean our answer will come immediately. Remember God’s timing is best. His answer will be yes, no, or not yet. We can trust in Him at all times
You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: “He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us”? But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.
According to his will
If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. This is the true God and eternal life.
the unpardonable sin
What is it?
Is it sin before death that has not been confessed to the priest?
is it drinking
is it drugs
adultery?
suicide?
murder
what is this unpardonable sin
“Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”—
What is the context here Remember context is key If we dont evaluate the context I can make this scripture any anything I want it to
Christ mentioned this unforgivable sin in Mark 3:28-29, where it is described as blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. It had to do with denying the authority and power of God. Mark explains that Christ was responding to an accusation from His detractors, who said, "He has an unclean spirit" (Mark 3:30).
lets look a the context
The scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons.” And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? “If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. “If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. “If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished! “But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house. “Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”
So these accusers jesus is talking to meant that His authority came from Satan, not from God. Although these accusers knew that Christ was the Son of God, they accused Him of being a fraud. Christ warned them that they were in danger of committing a sin for which there was no forgiveness.
What is the fate of one who does not repent of this sin? The unrepentant will die in a lake of fire at the end of the age (Matthew 10:28; Revelation 20:14-15). It's not that one sin is more terrible than another is, but rather that any sin we don't repent of will result in death. Hebrews 6:4-6 and Hebrews 10:26-27 both mention this sin as well, warning us not to "fall away" or to "sin willfully." How does one know if he has crossed the point of no return?
So long as one desires to repent, to get his or her life back in order spiritually, God will always forgive. Sadly, it is possible to come to a state of not caring about and not looking for forgiveness. If there's no repentance, there can be no forgiveness. That's when a person is in danger of the unforgivable sin. A person can come to that place either by simply drifting away or by sharply turning away from God in angry hostility.
At any time, God can and will forgive the sin of departing from Him, if the sinner wants forgiveness and genuinely repents. God inspired John to write, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Clearly, God will extend mercy to all who sincerely repent and change—regardless of their sin. Christ's words, coupled with the warnings in Hebrews, are sobering. Nonetheless, we should hold fast to the hope that God will grant us repentance when we turn to Him.
Let's broaden the subject to consider a related aspect. Quite apart from the unpardonable sin, many sincere religious people do not understand that sin is the transgression of God's law (1 John 3:4). Most churches teach and practice a theology much different from the way of life followed by the early New Testament Church of God.
this is why i know what we have learned in this book makes some uncomfortable
Truth is many pastors teach and preach what sells
what draws crowds
If we stick to the word the only world that gives hope life peace joy freedom many will reject it because they love thier son more than they love god
What they want is a ticket to heaven but without paying the price
The want God but on their terms
What they end up doing is Making God in Their own image they worship a Jesus that they want not the jesus of the bible one that accepts them as they are without repentance without a change
But my dear people this is not the Jesus of the bible the good news is not that god loves you so much you can do anything you want without fear
no the good news is this even if you have done horrific things if you come to christ with a repentant heart surrender your life in exchange for his then you will have eternal life
this is how your joy may be full
And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life. Little children, guard yourselves from idols.
Idols keep yourself from Idols
Idols of business
Idols of to many hobbies
Hobbies thst take away a significant time from God even family
Where are you today
