Context
Where are we | Where are we going | Last week | Moses and Aaron came back | Got discouraged | Had a talk with God | God encouraged Moses and his people | God gave Moses a Charge | That’s where we are. Where we going? 5 Chapters - Going to skim through some of it | I want you to pay close attention to the EXAMPLE that Moses gives us - It’s gonna change some lives. Ready?
Chapter 7 - God promises deliverance to Moses and Aaron - Tells them exactly what their gonna do | Go, Tell pharoah, he won’t listen, plaques| Moses says “That’s a pretty good plan, alright we’ll go” - They go to Pharoah and we pick it up here
Exodus 7:10–12 ESV
So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they, the magicians of Egypt, also did the same by their secret arts. For each man cast down his staff, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.
What do we know - Satan, obviously behind Pharoah, trying to stop line to Jesus. What do we learn?
Satan is able to counterfeit certain miraculous things.
2 Thessalonians 2:9 ESV
The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders,
The enemy can counterfeit - During Trib - Enemy will counterfeit - Satan will decieve many - Satan is behind phenomina in egypt but God had His way.
Lean in to the Truth that God will have His Way
OK - onto plaques - Quick note - Sets of 3- 9 plaques, then the angel of Death. First 2 with warning and call to repentence, 3rd without - Every time.
interesting - Plaques are coming as way of Judgement - But they are following the god Diety - Need to understand here - Egypt worshipped these ‘gods’ = idols- and God is destroying them -
Systamatically revealing he has the power and these ‘gods’ are powerless to stop him.
What idols is God trying to destroy in your life?
Pharoah = Satan = Eqypt = The World = These god’s = Idols
aint in trouble cause of enemy, because u aint being obedient.
Ok the plaques
Water to blood - Nile was worshipped - Lifeblood- God turned into Blood - 7 days - Sourceres did the same. Pharoah did not believe
Frogs - Greek God “Hecket” - Egyption frogs were sacred - could not be killed - Sourceres also copied
Gnats / Lice - First time magicians could not replicate - they said to Pharoah
Exodus 8:19 (ESV)
Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said.
4. Flies - On your people, but not my people.
Once this happens - We see first negotiation.
Exodus 8:25 ESV
Then Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God within the land.”
Worship your God but in this land | Satan does this to us - Be a christian - but don’t leave behind what you have here | Moses says “NO that would not be right” - this should be our response.
First of these “Negotiations” -
People of the world can’t understand the worship we offer to our God | Pearls to pigs - we are told not to | They don’t posess the ability to understand the value of pearl | the world can’t understand how we worship our God |
Lean into your deliverance - Lean into different.
OK so then we see;
Plaque 5: Dead animals - all in the field - not the town
Plaque 6: Festering Boils.
Plaque 7: Massive Hail - except the isrealites - Pharoah actually said he was going to let them go, but as soon as the storm went, He forgot his promise - isn;t that us? Storm stops and we forget God’s promise?
Plaque 8: Locusts
Plaque 9: Darkness - Darkness you could feel.
Then comes the 10th Plaque - Can be disturbing for some. but brings some heavy truths, we need to hear.
about to see - Power of God to set ppl free - biggest act of deliverance anyone seen up to this point - Mighty work - until JESUS CHRIST - Work of deliverance is so parralel to what we are about to go through.
Up to this point - The officials, guards everyone in Egypt worshipped Moses, Pharoah was the only one.
Exodus 11:4–5 ESV
So Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘About midnight I will go out in the midst of Egypt, and every firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the cattle.
Pharoah’s son = God. Slave girl = low - No one will be spared | Might seem harsh - Same as now.
Why firstborn? Isreal was God’s Firstborn = Divine Justice.
God then gives instructions of Passover to Isrealites - won’t go through all of it
Exodus 12:3 ESV
Tell all the congregation of Israel that on the tenth day of this month every man shall take a lamb according to their fathers’ houses, a lamb for a household.
Exodus 12:5 ESV
Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats,
Exodus 12:6–7 ESV
and you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill their lambs at twilight. “Then they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat it.
not life of lamb that would save | - the lamb must DIE | and what? The blood must be APPLIED | not just death that saved - it is the APPLICATION of the death of the Lamb.
In Communion, ask everyone to come up | We don’t just look at it and say a prayer - we partake in it. We accept and recieve it.
This applies with Death of Jesus | It doesn’t matter if you say, “i believe in God”, what is important , “Have you applied the blood - have you received what Jesus did for you on the cross”
What does paul say Romans 10:9
Romans 10:9 ESV
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Have you applied blood to doorposts of your heart?
Lean in to the completed work on the cross.
Lean in to your deliverance
applying = Accepting | This is what God is saying back in Exodus | You don’t just take the lamb | you don’t just kil the lamb | you APPLY THE BLOOD.
Unversalism = because Jesus died, everyone is saved - no, we must accept the finished work on cross.
Can’t have one foot in this world and foot in the Kingdom of God | He wants all of you | You can’t be walking toward your mistakes and walking toward Jesus | Repent and Leave them.
God then gives them instructions on how to cook the rest;
Exodus 12:10 ESV
And you shall let none of it remain until the morning; anything that remains until the morning you shall burn.
Eat all of it, why? Because Jesus was a WHOLE OFFERING. then they’re told;
Exodus 12:11 ESV
In this manner you shall eat it: with your belt fastened, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lord’s Passover.
expect deliverance NOW| When God delviers you, you run, into arms of Lord | We are told to be watchful, Jesus, could be tomorrow, but your deliverance is today. Lean in. Lean in.
This is what will happen on Judgement day;
Exodus 12:12–13 ESV
For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am the Lord. The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.
He is telling his people; REST under the blood of lamb.
What are we to do? REST under the blood of the LAMB.
it’s all about the blood - Application process is not works, or good deeds, its knowing, that it’s done. The angel of death passed over - Didn’t look inside - Couldn’t see who was in there - Couldn’t see their mistakes, past sins, repented behaviour, no, just passed over.
then says - they should eat unleved bread = 7 days - Take the yeast out. Yeast = Sin - Yeast, puffs up bread - Sin, puffs us up. Rest under the blood - Repent and turn from your ways.
Exodus 12:31–32 ESV
Then he summoned Moses and Aaron by night and said, “Up, go out from among my people, both you and the people of Israel; and go, serve the Lord, as you have said. Take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone, and bless me also!”

Inspo and close

Moses stood firm against Pharoah. Didn’t compromise - Where are you compromising?
Where is God asking you to stand firm against Satan?
God doesn’t want us half in - He has a warning for Lukewalm. God is asking for all of us. Deliverance comes form when we deny the things of this world and put our FULL Trust in GOD. Where is God asking you to be all in?
Maybe you’re like moses being tempted “worship the lord, but do it in the world”
Maybe your holding onto things that you have repented from and God is asking you to Rest under the blood of the lamb.
Maybe you think that what Jesus did on the cross whas not enough? It was enough.
Remember; Abraham - Waited 30 years for a son, God asked him to Sacrifice it - they are walking up the hill - Son goes “Where is the lamb?” Abraham says -God will provide.
Question, does not get answered until John the Baptist -
John 1:29 (ESV)
The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
Isaiah 53:7 ESV
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.
1 Corinthians 5:7 ESV
Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
Revelation 5:5–6a (ESV)
And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.” And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain,
Amazing beautiful thread - from Passover to Revelation of Jesus, as the Lamb of God slain for the Sin of the World and for You. It’s done - It’s finished.
