Romans 1:16-17
Think of that phrase “I am no ashamed of the gospel”
Someone tell me what the gospel is?
The gospel is so simply explained, God’s story
Paul is essentially making this statement “I am not ashamed of God’s story”
Now you may ask, why is Paul so confident in this? Why is Paul confident in this story?
He explains, That it is
“The power of God for salvation for everyone who believes”
Why is this phrase so important? because it explains to us the most amazing attribute of God.
The one of Salvation.
You see, even in our sin, even in our despair He has called us unto salvation.
Later on in Romans we are told simply
romans 3:23
Due to this verse we have the very clear understanding that we are all sinners.
We know this because scripture has plainly taught us here, all have fallen short of God’s glory.
Who is all?
All is everyone.
all of us, all of the world.
i am a sinner
You are a sinner.
But here is where the miracle comes in.
I am a sinner but I am a sinner saved by grace.
You see, in my sin I became aware of my sin, and I came to know God and received his grace.
I began to realize in my own life, that as I began to think about the sins of my life.
I had lied, I had cheated on test’s, I had acted in a manner that was not pleasing unto God.
I had most importantly, disrespected God.
But thankfully, God doesn’t draw a limit on my forgiveness.
God doesn’t say, he isn’t worth of my forgiveness
God never has.
Luke 7:36-38
This woman who had came to Simon the Pharisees house was a sinner and she had sinned a lot.
In fact jesus as we are about to read states that “Her sins were many”
Simon even said that Jesus shouldn’t have let her in because she was a sinner.
but the story continues here in verses 41-47
This woman, a sinner, is told, though you are a sinner you are forgiven because your heart has shown the truth you believe in me.
Your heart has shown that you love me.
Now we don’t know what happened to the woman after this, but we know that at this moment she was saved by grace through faith.
so the real question today isn’t are you a sinner.
We know that you are a sinner because scripture has taught us so.
The real truth is do you believe in Jesus Christ?
You see if you realize today that you are a sinner, and that Jesus Christ is the only one who can save you.
You have an opportunity at eternal life.
All you have to do is repent of your sins and turn to him.
Now this sinner lady we are told of, she had a calling now. She was to live a new life for jesus Christ.
If you are saved today, that isn’t the end.
You have to live for him each day.
