Old Earth Theory

The Old earth theory believes that dinosaurs existed before man. They believe that the earth is 4.5 billion years old. They do not believe in a 6 day creation. They believe that the 6 days are representative of several different years. They believe that God created everything just as new earth people do, but lean more on science theory in their beliefs. For example they believe that their is enough evidence that God used evolution in His creation. Meaning that God created the sun and it existed for millions of years before the other things He created. The believe that the accumulation of God’s creation made an environment for man to evolve to the point he is today.

Some Old earth people believe that the 6th day that God created the animals and man was a period of millions of years. Subsequently, some believe that the dinosaurs existed and were extinct before Adam.

The problem with dinosaurs existing before Adam was that they would have had to die before Adam sinned. Death was not part of God’s creation until sin entered in.

For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body. For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

New Earth Theory

The New Earth Theory dates the earth to be 10,00-20,000 years old. They believe in a 6 literal day creation. They do not believe in evolution but maturation creation. Meaning God created all things mature. They believe dinosaurs were created the same day that Adam was made. They believe Adam named them

Genesis 2:18–20 NASB95

Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.” Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him.

They also site the Old Testament as proof of existence of Dinosaurs.

You divided the sea by Your strength; You broke the heads of the sea monsters in the waters.

New Earth People believe that the Dinosaurs existed during the time of Adam and were wiped out during the flood.
