True enduring faith involves trusting God in all circumstances. Faith enables believers to remain loyal to God and His Word at all times. Faith takes God at His Word and trust His promises. Faith is not based on visible circumstances, but on the confidence we have in God and His Word.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.
By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Characteristics of Faith
Characteristics of Faith
Faith is a journey that begins for us from the moment we receive Gods forgiveness. Our faith grows in us as our relationship grows with Christ. Today we’ll talk about a few things to keep our faith stirred up, moving forward and active in our lives.
1. Faith Has Ears
1. Faith Has Ears
Faith will hear what others do not hear. Faith doesn’t just hear audible sounds, it hears the voice of God. Faith moves you to respond to what you hear.
2. Faith Is Not In The Future
2. Faith Is Not In The Future
If it’s in the future it’s HOPE. If it’s in the past it’s an experience. Faith is for right now, this moment you’re in right now.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
3. Faith Has A Language
3. Faith Has A Language
Faith not only hears, faith speaks. We do not deny the reality of what we’re facing, but we often declare by faith the opposite of that reality. God did not look at us and call us what we are, He called us “what we would be”.
God is going to make a way! You might even say that “you don’t know how He is going to do it, but He is going to turn it around”.
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
4. Faith Speaks What It Hears
4. Faith Speaks What It Hears
If you will speak what you hear in your spirit, and keep on speaking it, you will eventually see what you are speaking.
5. Faith Does Not Give Up
5. Faith Does Not Give Up
Faith will always choose progress. It will always choose to move forward. Believers will face the same adversities, obstacles, disappointments, and attacks as everyone else will. We will never give up!
who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again.
Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented—of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.
And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.
6. Faith Does Not Operate With Methods
6. Faith Does Not Operate With Methods
God will never be put in a box and be told that He only moves this way or that. Jesus’ miracles were always different from each other. If He had, we would have doctrines and denominations built around them.
And when He came to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around them, and scribes disputing with them. Immediately, when they saw Him, all the people were greatly amazed, and running to Him, greeted Him. And He asked the scribes, “What are you discussing with them?”
Then one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.”
He answered him and said, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.” Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.
So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?”
And he said, “From childhood. And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.
And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?”
So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”
Call To Action
Call To Action
Invite the Lord into your life..."Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe that He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen."
Maybe today you can relate to this father, or even the disciples and the cry of your heart is simply “Lord help my unbelief”. Come and seek the Lord!
