The Bible describes Gods holiness more than any other of Gods characteristics including love
Holiness means separation from everything that is imperfect, impure, unclean
God is holy
In fact He is perfect, pure, blameless, excellent and worthy of all praise and honour
We need to meet with God with with such respect reverence and awe
God wants us to live Holy lives
As disciples of God, we should live in such a way that people recognise that we are different from the World
What does the World see about you, what does the World see about the way you live your life
It is not enough to say, well God sees, me, no people of the World need to see that you are different, because we represent God on the earth and the only picture of God that so many people will see is you and me
Leviticus 11:44–45 (NKJV) — 44 For I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy. Neither shall you defile yourselves with any creeping thing that creeps on the earth. 45 For I am the Lord who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
Ephesians 1:4 (NKJV) — 4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
We are children of God, therefore we are part of Gods family and therefore we need to show a lifestyle that shows that we are members of Gods family
God has provided us a way to be holy because of the the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross
We therefore have a responsibility to walk as Jesus walked.
1 John 2:6 (NKJV) — 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
To obey Gods commands
To be put on like a coat the new self or the the new nature that God has given us
Ephesians 4:24 (NKJV) — 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
God will then be able to make us into holy vessels that will be prepared to live with God forever
Hebrews 12:14 (NKJV) — 14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:

1 Thessalonians 4:3–8 (NKJV) — 3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. 7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. 8 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.
Hebrews 12:28–29 (NKJV) — 28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. 29 For our God is a consuming fire.
