The Characteristic of a man who trust is in the Lord.
The Characteristic of a man who trust is in the Lord.
Jeremiah 17:5–8 (NKJV)
5 Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord.
6 For he shall be like a shrub in the desert, And shall not see when good comes, But shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, In a salt land which is not inhabited.
7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose hope is the Lord.
8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
The blessedness of the man who trust is in The Lord is as follows.
He will not fruitfull and flourish like a tree planted in the waters
He will not fear nor be anxious in troublouse times (the year of drought or when heat comes)
God wants us to trust and hope in Him, so that we may be a fruitful tree in that never withers in the garden of God.
Yet trust is something that has to be build,
We are not naturally incline to trust God with all our heart because there are other things besides God that we are naturally inclined to put our trust in.
So God has to work in our life to transition us from trusting in those thing to trusting in him .
Trusting in One’s understanding
Trusting in One’s understanding
Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
We tend to be incline to trust based on our understanding.
We lean on our understanding and trust in it.
God will place us in circumstance and situation that is beyond our understanding or comprehension so we may trust in him.
Job 13:14–16 (NKJV)
Job 42:3 (NKJV)
3 You asked, ‘Who is this who hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
Trusting in one’s strength
Trusting in one’s strength
God does not want us to trust in our own strength.
God sometimes will allow us to go through things that are beyond our strength of endurance, beyond something that we can deliver ourselves from so that we may learn to trust in him.
2 Corinthians 1:8–11 (NKJV)
8 For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life.
9 Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead,
10 who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us,
11 you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many.
They were in circumstanes that was beyond what their stregth could endure,
Therefore they went into despare even of life.
They thought that this was it, the only way out of this heavines and despaire was death.
But in that circumstance they learned that God was able to deliver them from even from the pit of despare and dispondency, that he was bale to deliver them from what was beyond their stregth, beyond their measure.
It was as if God raised them up from the dead.
Therefore they not Trust that he will still deliver them form so great a death.
3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; Enlighten my eyes, Lest I sleep the sleep of death;
4 Lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed against him”; Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
5 But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.
6 I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.
8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever.
Trusting in ones Wealth
Trusting in ones Wealth
1 Timothy 6:17 (NKJV)
17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy.
There is a sense of confidence that money gives
The more money one has to more confident and haugthy one would become.
Job 31:24–28 (NKJV)
24 “If I have made gold my hope, Or said to fine gold, ‘You are my confidence’;
25 If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, And because my hand had gained much;
26 If I have observed the sun when it shines, Or the moon moving in brightness,
27 So that my heart has been secretly enticed, And my mouth has kissed my hand;
28 This also would be an iniquity deserving of judgment, For I would have denied God who is above.
We Must be careful that our confidence and hope does not come from the abundance of the money we possess.
When we have much we should not be confident neither should we be distressed when we have little
Jesus taught the desciples by bringing them to the wilderness where their money would fail them to provide for their needs so that they may learn to trust God for their needs.
Proverbs 11:28 (NKJV)
28 He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like foliage.
