Welcome
This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. This is the day that Nathan and Rachel get to proclaim their love before God, friends, and family.
Welcome! You may be seated.
Thank you all for sharing this moment. We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of marriage between Nathan and Rachel Wilks.
Prayer
Father God,
Thank you for the gift of marriage, and thank you for Nathan and Rachel. We ask that these two might grow in the love and knowledge of You, and the love and commitment of each other. Help them to be faithful to each other as You are faithful to us.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
Presentation of the Bride:
Who gives this woman to be married to this man?
Scripture
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
1 Corinthians 13:13 “So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
Love is a beautiful collaboration of actions, feelings, and responses, but it is never easy; nor is it ever described as easy in the Bible. Love takes commitment, it takes trust, it takes work. Love is not for the feint of heart. It is in this way that we know that God loves us, and how you must love one another.
Vows
Nathan
I take you Rachel
To be my lawfully wedded wife
My closest friend
My faithful partner in life
And my one true love
To have and to hold
For better and for worse
For richer and for poorer
In sickness and in health
From this day forward
As long as we both shall live.
Rachel
I take you Nathan
To be my lawfully wedded husband
My closest friend
My faithful partner in life
And my one true love
To have and to hold
For better and for worse
For richer and for poorer
In sickness and in health
From this day forward
As long as we both shall live.
Rings
Do you have the rings?
The wedding ring has been a symbol of the marital union for centuries. This is because the ring has no end, like the love given by God, and the love you have for each other, has no end.
Nate:
Rachel, I give you this ring
As a sign of our covenant
and as a witness to our abiding love.
Rachel:
Nathan, I give you this ring
as a sign of our covenant
and as a witness to our abiding love.
Prayer
Announcement
Now that they have given themselves to each other by solemn vow before us and before God as witness, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, recognized by the state of Washington, I now pronounce you husband and wife!
What God has joined together, let no man separate!
You may kiss the bride.
