Introduction
If you weren’t here last week, we talked about what does it look like to influence the world for the Kingdom.
To gain favor and advancement in God’s Kingdom is opposite to the world…
Instead of power and position to advance in God’s eyes, you have to be okay with servanthood and surrender.
To clarify, last week I mentioned not being that weirdo…
Meaning that lots of times, as Christians we over complicate living for Jesus…
Body
At the heart, people are jacked up. We are broken and sin filled beings.
Being under the Kingdom of God, if we are a Christian, we have to continuously ask God to reveal things in our life that are causing a rift in our relationship with Him.
Reading a book right now called, Half the Battle by Jon Chasteen
For us to go be “more than conquerers” (Rom. 8:37), we have to be willing to humble ourselves and be willing to conquer the battle within us.
I love this line by Dr. Chasteen. He says, “You can never tear down the walls of Jericho unless you first let God tear down the walls of your heart.
So, what does this mean… He’s speaking to the issue of surrender.
If we’re trying to win territory for the Kingdom but we haven’t fully surrendered our lives to God, there will be this disconnect.
[Oranges illustration]
Surrender does not come natural for most people.
Only until we surrender and let God bring to light things in our life that is holding us back, is when we will see God move in a circles.
Let me tell you something student…
Surrendering to God is a continual process.
I was visiting a camp this weekend and started thinking about how many church people have a distorted view of grace…
When you truly grasp God’s grace, you’ll realize its abundance. Not for us to misuse, but it’s there when we come to Him to re-surrender.
Psalm 139:23–24 NIV
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
[MOMS FIND EVERYTHING]
David in the Bible was described as, “a man after God’s own heart” and still he prayed and asked God to search his heart; see if there is anything in me that could prevent you from using me for your Kingdom.
David only said this to God because he was ready for surgery. He had to be ready for what was coming.
God plays the surgeon, only if we let Him.
Having this conversation of Kingdom culture, surrendering it all is the only way for God to truly use you for influence.
Transparency in the Kingdom is crucial to transformation in the culture.
Being okay with not being okay…
Conclusion
Every week during this series, we have landed the plane like David.
Psalm 139:23–24 NIV
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
I prayer that you would ask and pray David’s prayer.
