Overcoming Fear

Paul speaking to Timothy
Fan the Flame!
2 Timothy 1:6–7 NLT
This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
God doesn’t give us a spirit of fear!
Fear gets in the way of us fanning into flames the gifts of God in our lives.
John 14:26–27 NKJV
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
God’ Holy Spirit will teach us and help us to remember.
God’s peace is our inheritance!
1 John 4:17–19 NKJV
Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.
God loves us and because He loves us there is no fear. Fear cannot stand God’s love for us!

Fear is a Squatter

Fear comes in uninvited. It comes in through windows and doors that are left open.
It comes in and finds a comfortable spot and lingers
It takes territory, room, space that does not belong to it.
It threatens, and torments its host.
It isolates people from their purpose.
Fear Distorts Reality
I am inwardly fashioned for faith, not for fear. Fear is not my native land; faith is. I am so made that worry and anxiety are sand in the machinery of life; faith is the oil. I live better by faith and confidence than by fear, doubt and anxiety. In anxiety and worry, my being is gasping for breath--these are not my native air. But in faith and confidence, I breathe freely--these are my native air. A John Hopkins University doctor says, "We do not know why it is that worriers die sooner than the non-worriers, but that is a fact." But I, who am simple of mind, think I know; We are inwardly constructed in nerve and tissue, brain cell and soul, for faith and not for fear. God made us that way. To live by worry is to live against reality.
Dr. E. Stanley Jones.
Evil Spirits are real. Fear is one of them.
We can name many others. Sin brings us into slavery, the master is a spirit.
There are also good spirits
Hebrews 1:14 NKJV
Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?
These evil spirits look for places they can influence our lives. and become squatters
God through the bible teaches us how to deal with these things.
James 4:7 NKJV
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
The first step to overcome The spirit of fear is to Repent. Denounce. Reject, Turn From it!

REPENT [Heb. niphal of nāḥam CHANGE ONE’S MIND, THINK BETTER

We must recognize that this is not ok… That this spirit that is influencing me is not good and turn away from it.
James 4:7 NKJV
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
James says Submit to God… Resist the Devil… Submit means to bring every thing under careful scrutiny and examination…
Is this God? Does it belong in my Life? Is it helping me to fan the flame of God in my life?
Does it bring me down low?
Many of our sins have been passed down to us from previous generations. In other words we were taught and engrained in our belief system lies. We also want to repent of those.

Re-Possess - Take Back!

John 10:10 NKJV
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
The ground or territory that was taken from you needs to be returned.
In The Name of Jesus We cancel any permissions we have given the enemy of our souls. We take back the deed and title of our destiny and life.

Kick Out! Cast Out!

Matthew 10:8 NKJV
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
Jesus instructed his disciples to cast out demons, just as Jesus did.
Its good to practice with ourselves.
Jesus himself was tempted by the devil. Which means that the devil tried to influence Jesus.
Jesus rebuked the devil over and over again… casting him out every time! Even when one of his own Peter speaking under the influence, Jesus rebuked him… Get behind me Satan!
In the Name of Jesus we Cast Out the spirit of Fear! We kick him out! banish him!
Go go go… get out!
Luke 10:20 NKJV
Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

Refill! Fill Up On the Holy Spirit!

Now that Fear is Gone! Fill the house up With the Spirit of the Living God!
The space that was once occupied now needs a new tenant.. be filled with the Holy Spirit!
Ask Him to fill you up!
Ephesians 5:18 NKJV
And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
Luke 11:13 NKJV
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
Acts 1:8 NKJV
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Fan into flames the Gift!
Repent!
Kick Out! Cast Out!
ReFill!
