Sanctity of Human Life 2023

Isaiah 49:1–7 ESV
Listen to me, O coastlands, and give attention, you peoples from afar. The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name. He made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me a polished arrow; in his quiver he hid me away. And he said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified.” But I said, “I have labored in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity; yet surely my right is with the Lord, and my recompense with my God.” And now the Lord says, he who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob back to him; and that Israel might be gathered to him— for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord, and my God has become my strength— he says: “It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel; I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.” Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One, to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nation, the servant of rulers: “Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall prostrate themselves; because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”
Every life is precious. Every life is desired by God.
On January 22, 1984, President Ronald Reagan issued a presidential proclamation designating the third Sunday of January (or close to that) as National Sanctity of Human Life Day.
Pastors, churches and life organizations across the United States use this day to bring awareness to the attacks that are daily waged against human life through the abortion industry.
One of the best ways we can protect unborn lives is by bringing into the light the darkness of abortion, and supporting local Pregnancy Help Organizations who daily reach women and families with messages of hope and life.
Total number of abortions in US  (1973 – 2020):
63.6 million+
Number of abortions in US  (2020):
930,160
Abortions per day:
2,548
Abortions per hour:
106 1 Abortion every 34 seconds!
This is dreadful. We could recount the numbers and this is more than World War 2. This is 64 times more than the Vietnam War. Beyond that, God is the one who creates life.
God is the originator of all life
Genesis 1:26 ESV
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Genesis 2:7 ESV
then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.
Psalm 139:13–14 ESV
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
The works of God are God. Our lives are His masterpiece. He is the virtuoso of this creation. He created the instrument and He wrote the song. The song of our lives was created to be beautiful and sin cut it abruptly. So God created a bridge.
Bridge:
In music, especially Western popular music, a bridge is a contrasting section that prepares for the return of the original material section.
Jesus is the bridge to bring us back to our original status. The cross shows us how precious life is.

Conclusion:

Life is very precious. You are precious. Maybe someone here or listening online has had an abortion or been a part of an abortion.
There is forgiveness.
1 Timothy 1:15 ESV
The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.
It starts by opening our eyes to hear the voice who has been calling to us the entire time. The one who loves us more than we could ever fathom.
Maybe you have not made Jesus your Lord and Saviour so these have not been a part of your life. Great news. Today is your day.
Jesus has already done the hard part and He makes it as easy as knowing your A, B, C’s.
A - Acknowledge
Romans 3:23 ESV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
B - Believe
Acts 16:31 (ESV)
And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.”
C - Confess
Romans 10:9–10 ESV
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
