1 Corinthians 12:1–11 CSB
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts: brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be unaware. 2 You know that when you were pagans, you used to be enticed and led astray by mute idols. 3 Therefore I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. 4 Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are different ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are different activities, but the same God works all of them in each person. 7 A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good: 8 to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, 9 to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of tongues, to another, interpretation of tongues. 11 One and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as he wills.
Introduction:
THERE ARE MANY THINGS THAT CAN SEPARATE US
The Corinthian church had some issue and in many ways they were kinda arrogant. Paul take a bit of a jab at their arrogance when he says “I don’t want you to be unaware/ignorant” (v. 1)
With that in mind, there could easily be in over emphasis on certain spiritual gifts and a devaluing of others.
1 Corinthians 3:6–8 CSB
6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So, then, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.
But Paul is here to set the record straight.
Likewise there are so many things that can separate us (arrogance, fears, projecting our insecurities on others).
THE IMPORTANT THING BRINGS US TOGETHER
Paul points to the Trinity (pic)
not an exhaustive list of gifts
Gifts freely given (v. 4) (charismaton, root charis-grace-freely given)
there is something that the holy spirit gives to people in the church that is to be used for the building of the kingdom (v.7) “common good”
1 Corinthians 12:7 CSB
7 A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good:
WE NEED EACH OTHER
God is building His church. This is His work and He has graciously called us into it.
Use our time wisely and work together.

John 9:4 CSB
4 We must do the works of him who sent me while it is day. Night is coming when no one can work.
